Chrissie Brown
Congratulations Steve and well done. What does the job entail or aren't you allowed to talk about it.
bigsteve
lol @ Aza Chrissie, it don't know exactly what I'll be doing but its a Civil Engineering training scheme for 3 years, so I'll be work-shadowing at the start and then gradually being given my own projects to work on as I learn more. Its going to cover traffic planning, road design, construction and maintenance of the local roads, so its a really good opportunity for me and something I've dreamed of. Hopefully it will all go to plan.
Quadrant
Sounds as sweet as lying on a desert with no food then being given a watermelon! Ok, maybe thats a bit obscure, but well done sir Steve, sounds like its something you will actually enjoy as well. Better than being at a desk all day, I can tell you that
Simcut
Just spoken to them and they are sitting down next Wednesday and I am on the agenda. So I will know next Thursday! I'm a bit worried to be honest, he said that I'm over qualified and the money Im asking for he'd have to discuss.... hopefully they will realise that I am worth it cause I feel I can help them take Audiojelly forward..... Chrissie Brown
You may need to compromise in order to get the job. Once you have the job and prove your worth then you are in a better position to ask for more money.

Chrissie Brown
Well they said I was over qualified..... :S I can understand your frustration but if you really want the job then you may have to settle for less money to start with. They are obviously trying it on but l'm afraid the ball's in their court. I wish you all the best and hope they take you on.

What a stupid bunch of d***heads, I can't believe that. Very sorry for you Sir Simon, we all know you have the knowledge and to not give you the job because "they wanted someone who didnt have much experience" would be detrimental for themselves and the person they're employing. It's like saying: Sexy Stars is looking for a porn star to take the main leading role in a new hardcore DVD to be released this February. However, we don't want someone with any sexual experience, interest, or potential, because it will cost too much. We hope to sell lots of DVDs by using this recruitment method. - I mean, what's the point? Also, can anyone explain to me what being overqualified means?
Aza
ha - i like your comparion sir quadrant. I hope you stole that from somewhere rather than thinking that up, sitting there and typing it ;) ;) ;) ;) Im a bit nervous jumping into the big bad world, I thought to get a job these days you need to be experienced... Quadrant
Im a bit nervous jumping into the big bad world, I thought to get a job these days you need to be experienced... Well exactly. And I hate those forms you have to fill in. When I got this job a couple of years ago it said "give an example of teamwork that you have been involved in". I was tempted to write "gay gang-bang" but I'm not sure it would have benefited me getting the job.
