Briggsy
I'm not going either. The line-up is a bit bland for me. A&B don't really do much for me, Sander van Doorn was trash the last tiem I saw him, and i'm not keen on Ferry since he went down the Electro-Trance route. I'll keep my money for Eddie next month
Gregg
yeah, i've not bought mine either. will probably give it a miss as the line up really isn't that good.

Bjorn
Haha, had a wikked night, could have been better tho...im really not a fan of gods Been there a few times now and it just aint crasher Saw a load of the anjuna boys there, good to see a few good faces... Annnd GREGG!! FINALLY, hahaha!! finally met him, sound lad - tryed to find u for ages later on to no avail...we'll meet again im sure! Anyway, we got to Brum about 4, checked in our cheapskate hotel and went to Walkabout to watch the rugby...crap!! We went to a pub by air, then headed in early to miss the mad rush. Walked in to eteson playing Zak's Quiney (anjuna board) mashup which sounded lush in a club, top marks zak! SVD came on and altho toned it down smashed it out, really enjoyed it - he played a QUALITY bootleg of Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle.. Ferry came on and played his usual sort of stuff, not too much a fan of Ferry as a dj tbh - just not my style, but i love his production...lol! A&B came on eventually after seeing them b4 they went on Jono recognised me, haha...i swear im not swedish jono! Played a bloody awesome set, managed to wrestle to the front and stay for their whole set. Lets see what i can remember.. Aalto - Rush Oceanlab - Sattellite DT8 - Destination (Jono Grant Remix) Signalrunners - Aria epica (Bart Claesson Remix) A&B - World On Fire A&B - Tri-State (intro mix) A&B - Alone Tonight A&B - Can't Sleep A&B - Stealing Time Duderstadt - Smile (Duende Dub) - think its was benassi's fav tune of the night, one of my favs too, sounded lush! A&B - Home (Club Mix) - do i need to say anything? Video to follow... Class night, can never fault a Above & Beyond set! Went back to hotel, managed about 4 hours kip b4 we had to check out..crap...lol. Monged all day then me & my mate had to bloody DJ at this friends private party - james bond style...i'll have to post sum pics up later when i get them off my mate, well good laugh...but i started to feel the tiredness combined with all the free booze - lol! Got to bed at 2.30 then had to leave derby at 7am to get home and to work this morning... One word - MISSION..but i did paid rather handsomly for dj'ing so it was worth it! Briggsy
I must admit, i'm not a huge fan of Gods either now that its gone monthly. The reason for it going monthly was supposedly to bring in better line-ups and to make it more enjoyable and busier for everyone as certain line-ups were too quiet last year. In my opinion, some of the line-ups have been poor and badly planned since going monthly - and they're all sold out and over-packed, which creates an uncomfortable environment. It was packed when Eddie played their last year, and the Tiesto night was even worse - I actually left the Tiesto night feeling very angry because i'd been pushed about and nudged in the back by loads of sweaty topless chavs all night long. Clubbing is suppsoed to be enjoyable and the highlight of the weekend. Gods have got it wrong I reckon. They could have kept their events bi-weekly and made them successful by lowering prices. The problem last year is that they were charging £19 per ticket to see the likes of Armin, Tiesto, etc - but charging something like £17 for DJ's such as Marcel Woods, Gareth Emery and Matt Hardwick - who, with no disrespect to them, are not A-list DJ's like the others, and don't charge A-list prices to DJ at Godskitchen events. They could have had one "big" line-up per month, and one "smaller" line-up each month - with both having their prices worked out accordingly. Rather than charging £17 for a "B-list" line-up and only having 600 people turn up, they could have lowered the price to a reasonable £8-£9, fill the club with 1200 clubbers - and then made more profit that way because they'd have had more people buying drinks, etc. I've seen so many boards where people say they only go to Gods for the "social" side of things to catch up with their old mates. They could do that at the smaller line-ups, and leave the bigger line-ups free for the people that genuinely want to see Eddie, Jules and Armin and that are not just going to catch up with their best mate called Bill. Genuine fans of Eddie, Jules and Armin are missing out because some old mates want to have a chinwag in the corner to talk about old times - they aren't really bothered about who's playing. Sort it out Gods - its not working at the atmosphere is lousy now!
Max Kane
Sadly it seems Gods have tried to maximise profit without worrying about the actual traditions of the night, i still love the place & the venue & system are imo unbeatable. The whole monthly nights isn't such a bad idea and i think that the lineups have been very strong. Price wise it's expensive now, over-priced imo but they sell it out everytime so they're not gona relent and reduce prices. They seem to be tryin to take on too much, they have Godskitchen (which should be their primary concern), various tour nights in the US (Kerching $), tour nights in the UK (Newcastle & Perth, Scotland), The Bournemouth night with PvD, Global Gathering, Hi-Fi (North & South) & Compilation albums galore, way too many things to take on. Gods was always better when they focused mainly upon the weekly FRIDAY nights with stella lineups virtually every week & Armin as monthly resident. Now they just seem to be getting greedy
Max Kane
Almost forgot to mention that they're involved with Escape Into The Park aswell, another festival they seem to wana take over. Bjorn
Some spot on points there chaps. I have been thinking about it a lot recently - thinkign about how crasher was back in the day - crasher were never bothered about profit, bt simply putting on the best night with the best dj's every week - i wonder how the hell they managed to afford the likes of Picotto, Armin, PVD, Ferry, Tiesto (to name a few) week in week out! I deffo agree with you both - i think they have turned to money, as crasher has a little bit recently. But gods really lacks a good atmosphere - the lighting (lets be honest) is s*** - they had one lazer on for about 20 mins on sat. Crasher has 3 amazing lazers! Its too light in there and seems too 'fresh'. In contrast, crasher is dark, moody & grimey! Not to take it away but it was a good night. The stupid stage at the front did my head in - not allowed on for the 'dancers' yet there was not one dancer during A&B's whole set!

I remember Armin's first 9hr set at Gods, I managed to climb up onto that stage at about 5am with one of my mates, my mate promptly got thrown off by the burley geezer who was patrolling but i managed to stay on long enough for 'Communication' to come on, was a moment
Gregg
I'm glad i'm not alone in thinking Gods has made a major error in going monthly. The cycle of DJ's is getting repetitive (as much as I will always go to a Gods night with Armin on the bill, April will see his 3rd appearance over 8 Gods nights since August). I miss the old nights with producers like Lange, Pulser etc. but your average townie won't even know who they are. Off The Rails in Sheffield has a line up like the old gods days at the end of next month. Pulser and Bryan Kearney. that's more appealing to me than Eddie 'I love myself and everyone f***ing loves me' Halliwell again! Atmosphere has never been one of Gods strong point IMO, its location attracts a majority of chavs and beer boys unfortunately and these people are getting through the doors in bigger numbers and pushing the real clubbers out the door! DJ's I saw were Micky Slim - great early set in the nitro room. Sander van Doorn - s***. f***ing awful. Again! please don't book him anymore! Ferry - average, not as good as he was the last time he played Gods (last May/June) Above & Beyond - made an average night worthwhile Also caught a bit of Paul Thomas in the nitro room while wandering about, and he was playing some quality stuff. his new mix of Josh Wink is awesome! Saturday was all about socialising. I knew the music wasn't going to be up to much, so wasn't too disappointed. Kudos to everyone I know who made it worth going! Bjorn - we finally meet! lol after seeing a few pics of you on here, I still wasn't sure if it was you at first! I'm crap like that! lol good to meet you mate, i'm sure it won't be the last time. Passion this weekend will be good!
