Wisdom Teeth

Neuro

Well not all of them, just 3 of the blighters. I had a blood test today to make sure they know what to do in case of any problems during the op but after an x-ray the specialist recommended they come out.

They're coming through at weird angles because there's not enough room, coupled with the fact when my best mate decided to stamp on my head during a fight in the high street (over my girlfriend at the time!) 4 years ago, breaking my jaw, the crack apparently affected the bottom left wisdom tooth a great deal. Which is probably why it's coming through a bit weirdly now. And why it hurts so much!!

"Do you want this done under local or general anaesthetic?" I was asked by the specialist. Well there's a stupid question: I don't want to know anything about it thank you, I just want to wake up and they're gone, that's that!!

Anyone had theirs out?

yup i have mate - and sorry to say, its WELL painful afterwards...eek!

Nothing like your mates giving support and encouragement ha ha

I dropped a double floor joist on two fingers and squashed them the other week, i had gloves on and my apprentice had to take it off as i was in extremely agony. Now - the response i was after was - " Its just a scratch - stop being a girl" as that would have calmed me down , His responce was " f*** your gonna lose those two fingers there mullered! "

Tim you`ll be fine - the op will go well and you`ll feel no pain at all :ph34r:

i was studded in the shin when i used to play football when i was a kid. It hurt a little, then i stood up and could see blood through the sock. The physio looked at it and all i heard was "we're gonna have to get him to hospital". It wasnt until i saw my right shin with an inch diameter wound in it when i started crying/getting the pain. Boy did it hurt, i have never felt pain like it.

I also remember when i had to have one of my kanine teeth "filed" away to fit a brace on some years ago. They basicall "sandpapered" away part of the tooth. Even though it was numbed, it still hurt. I dont actually hate going to the dentists though...

The worst thing though, is ingrown toenails. I have never had one thankfully, but a mate of mine did. He had to get it cut out and it looked excrutiatingly painful. There are videos on youtube if you need to look at what they do - warning though, its quite grim.

I had an ingrown toenail cut out about 4 years ago, it didnt half hurt when the anaesthetic wore off! I got mine from playing football. Someone stamped on my foot with studs on in a match and within a few weeks developed into an ingrown toenail.

I also hurt my eye when playing football in the cup semi final for my school team about 7 years ago!

You know everyone always say "dont turn your back, face the ball", well i faced the ball and got the ball smashed in my eye. It sent me crashing to the ground, when i looked at my hand i could hardly see and my hand was covered in blood. I got rushed to hospital, in the end it turned out it had put a cut behind the back of my eye and was lucky not to have a detached retina. I wasnt allowed to move much for 2 weeks just incase my retina became detached.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, I had all 3 of the blighters out yesterday. I've never had a general anaesthetic before, and although I back myself as a pretty calm person in any given situation, for some reason I got a bit agitated and felt very cold right before the needle went in, and I simply couldn't stop myself from violently shaking! From my resting pulse of 59, according to the chart I read that at that point I leapt to 176!! :o:o I must have thought he was going to kill me or something, lol.

On the painkillers now and it's fine - but I can't speak and I'm eating/drinking through a straw... a strange experience!
