Neuro
Hi everyone If I'm backing data up from my PC, which DVD format is best to use --> DVD-R, or DVD+R? My drive is "DVD+ReWriteable" and I believe it can handle either format, just wondering what the difference was, if any. Cheers!
JasonB
I assume just like cdr's ones write onec and tothers re-writable like 100 times.
ALF
DVD-R and DVD+R are basically the same - you can only write once - as opposed to DVD+(-)RW where you can write and erase as much as you want (500 times they last for supposedly). I`ve been told +R has a slightly better more stable recording than -R. I believe the difference comes from some companies trying to get an edge with various new discs - promoting it has the "latest" thing. However I`m not so sure they are any different!! . Neuro
Thanks guys, just ordered a pack of ten DVD-Rs for about £3 off www.dabs.com/uk , cheers!
Aza
I have had no trouble putting movies on -R's! There really is no significant difference. Soon DVd-9 discs will be out a bitr more commercial (I can pick 1 disc up for £3). These are dual layer discs and will be the dogs when making your own dvd's as you can whack the quality right up! As for backin up well....You can have 8.4Gb on 1 disc! Which will be pretty decent!
