Neuro Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Hello everyone Whilst I deliver and organize more new Jules sets for download and get it ready for October 8th with the new site, are people happier with one big download or a couple of small ones for larges sets (e.g. 2x 50MB downloads or 1x 100MB)? If people's connections are dodgy and they're not quick, then they don't like massive files to download. If you don't care, select the third option.
Briggsy Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 I prefer it as one file. I cna download it as one object then, place track markers in with Goldwave, and then burn it to CD so that I can listen to it in the car and skip the tunes that I don't like
Quadrant Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 But what if it's a 2 hour set, sir Briggster? That won't fit on a CD when burnt as an audio file. I prefer old shows sliced in 2, although sometimes I do lose one part on the PC...
Max Kane Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Sliced into two is probably the easiest for everyone, that way if you are track slicing it makes little difference & also allows larger files to be downloaded easier
Gregg Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 depends on the file. if it's lots of individual sets then i don't mind it being split between the dj's. but if it's a 2 hour set by jules for example, then i'd prefer to have it as one complete file. EDIT - sorry to go against the flow.
Briggsy Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 But what if it's a 2 hour set, sir Briggster? That won't fit on a CD when burnt as an audio file. If its a two hour set, then 2x one hour downloads is fine - but if its a one hour set, 2x half hour sections seems a bit pointless.

I'd agree with this, i feel that anything over 80 mins (CD length) needs to be split though, it's just a bit easier to manage
Neuro Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 Yes I'd only split massive files, i.e. 2 hour sets; anything less or that which will fit on a CD will obviously be left as-is. Quite a devisive topic this one!
bigsteve Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Personally, I don't burn them to CD and just transfer to the iPod. All in one for me
Glenn J Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 I put all the sets i have got on to cd so splitting large files is probably best but im not too fussed
JasonB Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Ive got a mp3 splitter so dont bother me, if its jules and then someone else after then split otherwise if its like 2 hourts jules dont split it i sasy.
Briggsy Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 if its jules and then someone else after then split Yeah, especially if its Westwood. If its Westwood, then it should be split into as many pieces as possible, so that it's destroyed beyond recognition and can't even be put back together with Pro Tools. Between us, we could finally rid the world of the evil Westwood!
Marty Mayes Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 im not bothered but a 2 hour set 2 part's maybe only because i dont know how 2 split them into 2 myself
Max Kane Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Yeah, especially if its Westwood.
Uberduck Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 How funny would it be if Westwood was actually the size of mini-me and had a squeaky voice like him too.
Simcut Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 ^ lol As for the files, if people are worried about their connection cutting out, they should use something like Flashgot and Getright (Getright is easily downloadable). It allows you to resume any downloads at all....
Quadrant Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 If its Westwood, then it should be split into as many pieces as possible, so that it's destroyed beyond recognition and can't even be put back together with Pro Tools. I loved this, couldn't agree more!
Neuro Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Briggsy: Sorry, there will be no Westwood downloads, as fortunately we do not have any audio of this type to upload! This is a pretty conclusive poll, which has surprised me. I will be releasing full downloads then in the future; any which are released as split will be merged again and the old topic deleted. Thanks a lot guys and gals!
Briggsy Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Briggsy: Sorry, there will be no Westwood downloads Gutted! *Goes off to buy a web hosting plan to set up www.westwood&bigdawgsarchive.com *
Chrissie Brown Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 im not bothered but a 2 hour set 2 part's maybe only because i dont know how 2 split them into 2 myself I don't know how to split them into two either.
