New Jules Interview

Cheers Mr Bailey :)

Good read that... So next spring for a new album - interesting....

No doubt it'll be delayed, unless he has decided this time to keep the productions to himself rather than play them all out for months on end prior to the album release

I thought his comments on the new radio one schedule were reassuring. Good to hear he isn't going to throw the towel in in the near future.

It is good to know, his flat answer to whether he's ever thought of quitting is a good sign.

R1 wouldn't really be the same without Jules

Sounds like March for release, if he makes the deadline...

I’m now back in the studio working frantically to get my new artist album ready for its slated March 2008 release… I’m about two thirds of the way there.

More next week…

Yeah I agree. Out of all the dance DJ's, he's the only one that doesn't take himself too seriously - i'd miss his charisma if he called it a day.

Tong is the best presenter of them all - he has a good radio voice, but Jules's personality and banter make up for his presentation.

Well, Tong should be worried because there are up and coming DJ's that are playing the same sort of music as him - Jules however is fairly unique. Nobody else would dare pitch Electro House up to 140bpm and play it alongside Trance & Techno in a set and still make the set sound good.

He may play a few suspect tunes now and again, but one thing I like about Jules is the diversity of his sets.

Unfortunately, these days, Jules has a poor reputation amongst the die-hard Trance fans because he doesn't play the melodic hands-in-the-air stuff that they want to hear - but i reality, i'd say that Jules has never been an out-and-out Trance DJ. Jules is more about all things hard, bouncy with a funky edge.

Its unfortunate that 80% of his sets are Trance, so gets booked for specialist Trance nights such as Gatecrasher, when perhaps he isn't really suited to them.

I've always said that Jules is at his best when he's the only headliner at a gig - and the reason I think that is is because he has free reign to play what he likes and take the set in his own direction. When he has others alongside him on a line-up, he tends to have to follow on, or lead up to, the previous/next DJ.

I can't think of any other DJ that is as open minded with tunes and styles, and can make them all work in a set, other than Judge Jules - and for that reason alone, I think he'll be around for a good few years yet.

I think Oakie is touching 50, and he's still going strong - and thats under the influence of various substances, so the way Jules looks after himself, I don't see why he can't go for as long.

I agree with you Briggsy and l also hope Jules is around for a good many years to come.

He's got a great personality, always interacts with the crowd and isn't up his own **** like some l could mention.
