Max Kane Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Gods have released the preliminary lineup for their best party of the year. The X-Mas party! For the first time in as long as I can remember Jules isn't on the bill but I can just about forgive that due to the fact that Mr VB gets 5hrs. Xmas Party 22nd December Armin 5 hour set Blake Jarrell Mark Eteson Anyone else fancy a festive knees up? Quote
Briggsy Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Oooh I quite fancy that! I know the first two hours of Armin will drive me mad because it'll be a proggy yawnfest, but once he gets into 5th gear, he'll be awesome Quote

I imagine Jarrell will be keen to make a good impression on his Gods debut so he sould set things up nicely. Armin will probably be playing somethin like an 11-4 or 12-5 with any luck. His proggy sets working thru to the trancey stuff are by far his best imo Quote
Max Kane Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 Well his proggy sets or the sets he plays after Schulz has been on. The nights I've seen Markus followed by Armin have always been excellent Quote
Uberduck Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 the first two hours of Armin will drive me mad because it'll be a proggy yawnfest Ooo, Tom wont like that!! You'd prefer it when he's proper smashing it out then? Bloody boshmonkey!! Quote

Gregg Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 booked my ticket. either Blake Jarrell wil be on early with Eteson closing, or Armin will do the last 5 hours, which will be my preference tbh. Quote
Max Kane Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 I prefer Armin playing the set prior to closing. I'm probably really biased being as I enjoy hearing him play some progressive tracks but I always find he plays better then anyway. Get Eteson on last to bang it out Quote
Briggsy Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I really like Eteson's closing sets. Lots of energy in his sets. His warm-up sets tend to bore me a bit - but then I hate warm-up sets anyway. Quote

Eteson is nowhere near as good at opening or closing as O'Bir was, but his stronger suit is closing the night. His warm-up sets are pretty unimaginative, it seems like he just flicks thru the last few episodes of ASOT and plays every track from the opening half hour Quote
Briggsy Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I don't think that's Eteson's fault though to be honest. I think his natural sound is a harder sound, whereas Jon O'Bir's was calmer stuff. Jon O'Bir wanted to reduce his gigs for personal reasons, and with Gods going monthly, I think they decided to stick with what they had already - and that was Eteson. I think if they had remained fortnightly, they'd have brought in another specialist warm-up DJ, and kept Eteson for the closing sets. Turnmills is the same with Gavyn Mytchel. Great warm-up DJ, but he really kills the night as closing DJ. He takes the pace right down again. Quote
Max Kane Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 O'Bir was the best ressie Gods ever had, they seemed to phase him out & Eteson in pretty quickly. O'Bir could nail a set anytime of the night. I saw him play warmups for Sasha & Schulz as well as coming on after Armin & playing a peak set prior to PvD, I was never dissapointed with any of his sets. Eteson hasn't really impressed me yet Quote
Briggsy Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Jon O' Bir is still officially resident according to Mark Eteson. Godskitchen didn't want to lose him, but I did an interview with Mark Eteson recently and he said Jon O'Bir has cut all of his DJ'ing gigs down due to personal commitments. You can read the interview here if you're interested http://www.thetrancearena.com/DJ%10Produce...rk_Eteson!/ Quote
Max Kane Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Good read that mate, when are you gona interview me Quote
Max Kane Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 This is apparently almost sold out, just to alert anyone who is still mulling it over Quote
