Im a dad again! :D My mrs went into labour yesterday at 9pm and gave birth at 10am this morning to a 8lb girl. I know a few guys on here have kids but for those who dont - prepare yourself for what will be with out a shadow of a doubt the most horrific and joyful day of your life. I had 36 hours with no sleep, 20 hours without a decent meal(I survived on red bull & mars bars) And then you have to endure the love of your life being torn apart from the inside (slowly) which is definately the worst bit because your absolutely helpless.Im also rubbish with dealing with puke , blood n guts so as you can imagine i was a lot of help to her

Still im home now and im chuffed to bits with our new addition to the family :D

That's a cool name too. She'll be a warrior in no time! :)

Hey maybe when she's older you can direct her to this thread so she can see her dad so proud! Have you considered an archery set for her bedroom yet?

cheers everyone for the kind words  bit of a soppy thread but at the time wanted to share me good news! Quadders I swear i read on one of the naming sites there was a freya which was some sorta warrior in norce legend. Heres one meaning of the name i brought up:

Freya may be taken as a variant of Freyja, name of a Nordic Earth goddess. Twin sister of Freyr, Freyja is the goddess of fertility and birth, also associated with death and the underworld. She is also a goddess of love and sexuality, of gold and silver.

The English day of the week "Friday" is presumably named after her.

She not named after anything in particular. Really because my better half really liked the name and by chance she was born on a friday spooky........

One negative thing i will say is during my long stays at the hospital im am am shocked with the state of the NHS basic service - i know theres a shortage in funding and staff etc.But Id gladly pay more taxes if they could promise it would be thumped into public health care rather than fighting wars that dont concern us and funding the ever growing asylum seeker population. Look after your own before the look after others <_<

Agree entirely about the health service, my mum was a nurse for most of her life, is now a heart cheast and stroke adviser for an entire county in the UK, and has always said that 95% of the people she's worked with, are the most passionate caring people in the world, yeah you get your people that couldn't give a f***, but pretty much everyone in that massive field of workers cares about 'fixing' people.

There is a LOT of money in 'trying' to fix things like youth crime etc, which will never be fixed til my polotician point shortly will be, which it won't, 45 policemen (exaggeration) to do a stupid wee job that doesn't help anyone in the long term(sorry to the policeman thats on here, but you know yourself its true, and you can't help it cos of the powers that be.....,) and f***ing politicians that don't see the f***ing problem because they went to f***ing private school, haven't the faintest idea what's happening in Britain and think that 'spin doctoring' is a way to run a f***ing country. When they haven't had a 'real' job in their lives, the people that 'run the country'.

I'm reeeeeeeeally sorry for tainting such a nice topic, and feel almost ashamed to be doing this, but the 2nd last comment (I think) is relevant cos it p***es me off that you should remotely suffer because of all the incompetant w***ers that get paid half your f***ing tax money for doing practically nothing. Politics shouldn't be :

"Wahey, we won, now we get the same treatment as royalty, lets now lie and go back on all the things we made promises about, cos we didn't really think it through enough, and care more about ourselves than our country."

At least Hitler had a f***ing idea with no bulls***, wrong as it may have been, and sorry if that statement causes offence, but why the f*** should it?! f*** it, lets all vote for the newly formed "Judge Jules" party, we'd get a hell of a lot more done than any 'politition'

In fact, "Judge Mental for Prime Minister" I'd get a f***ing lot more done than these bastards, and I'd pick my 'cabinet' to get stuff done, by looking at who actually could do the jobs, rather than who the bastards are mates with. Then I wouldn't need a 'reshuffle'. And people I pay with by my taxes wouldn't have to be sacked every f***ing week for 'mishaps' etc.

Argh, once again sorry, if you wanna move this to a new topic that might be better, but basically, it affects us all, especially new born kids. Its the world we've come to accept as it seems, and I'm sick of it to be honest..........

Just remembered its half four on a saturday night and I've just been out, might edit this in the morning lol, but leave it til then, AND pleeeeeease comment. Pretty much meant everything I said there, was more the tact that was missing, which i apologise for, but can't be helped when i get going.

Sorryxxxxxxx

You say what you like JM, some aspects of the treatment the women around and including my girlie where unforgivable and totally unavoidable. At the hospital they had one anesthetist (person who is qualified to give proper pain killers etc) and she was running about all over the entire hospital all day doing the best she could but because she was the only one there this resulted in numerous people waiting in a s*** load of pain till she came back round. My girlie waited 4 hours for a Epidural what is pretty bad when you get contractions every 5 minutes! Its extremely hard to deal with watching your other half in a substancial amount of pain and nurses and midwives not being able to do anything to help her. You`d never see a vet leaving a animal in pain for that long

We met of lot of very caring and understanding people who are working there hardest in a very crap situation :wall: some of the low rank politicians get paid 5 times if not more what a average health care worker does and like you said JM politicians wouldnt know a hard days work if it bit them on the arse!

Many congratulations Justin.

One of my friend has just had a little baby boy and all went well until the baby was born and then she had to be taken down to the theatre to have an operation to get the afterbirth out which was very traumatic as she said it was more painful than having the baby.

Another friend has a little girl called Freya and she is 3 years old now had has a mass of curly blonde hair and is a little treasure.

When l had my little boy, some years ago now, l ended up having a Caesarean section as l haemorhaged (whilst in hospital for bed rest) due to a blood clot which had dislodged the placenta from the womb. I had just drunk a milkshake so they were unable to operate for 4 hours and couldn't give me an epidural as l had to be kept dead still due to blood lose. At one time they thought my baby wouldn't live so they turned the monitor off so l couldn't hear if my baby's heart stopped. I had made loads of friends in hospital and they all came to chat to me whilst l waited to be operated on. As they wheeled me down one of the nurses told me the baby's heart was still beating and 30 mins later l had a dear little boy who came out 10 out of 10 . He was just starving hungry and only weighed 4lbs 10 ozs. He was in Special Care Baby Unit for 2 weeks until he reached 5lbs. I was seriously ill for 48 hours as l had blood clots and had very high blood pressure and it felt as if l had the flu.

My husband had left me when l was 3 months pregnant (he ran off with a young girl who worked for us ) so l had to go it alone, thank god for friends as l don't know how l would have coped without them. My parents were living in London and l didn't want to worry them too much so l didn't tell them how distressed l was or that my husband had left me . I just tolld them he was working away from home.

I agree with most of what JM said on here and would just like to add that we need more indians and less chiefs as they (the chiefs) cost the Health Service far too much money. There has been so much money ploughed into the NHS in recent years but it will never be enough and especially when most of it is going to the wrong people. We need more nurses not less.

Everyone l speak to is dead scared of going into hospital for fear of catching something far worse (Whilst in there) than the complaint they are being treated for. Its happening all the time and its scarey. "Trout lips" (her name has escaped me) is a prime example.

Sorry to go off the subject abit Justin! I just wanted to say hats off to you Chrissie, i have a lot of respect for people like you.

I have 3 children, so know how hard it can be at times, I have had my stepson since he had just turned 3, now he's 9 and have always thought of him as my own and treat them all the same.

I could tell you 101 things about his father but would be here all day, he basically doesn't bother with his son apart from maybe phoning him once a year and visiting maybe twice a year. I don't really know much about your situation so can't really comment but have seen from my situation how heartless some people can be.

Once again well done Justin!!!

Well done Justin, too... keep us posted on the new'un :) Some very strong people on here, impressed by Chrissie's effort particularly... life deals us a rough hand sometimes but some people cope with it far better than others, exemplified here :)

Both my parents are from medical backgrounds incidentally and my dad especially has tried (well forced!) my brothers to get to put away a bit every month for private medical insurance, however expensive. And I think I'll do the same when I get a job, although it's gonna be so hard on me financially when I first start earning. This is not because of pressure from my dad, it's because it saved the life of my mum when I was 3 and that's enough for me to warrant that for my long-term health that private's worth every penny.

I'll also never forget when I went to casualty when I was 15 after I fell off my bike (I've never got on one since): first of all I waited hours and hours to get seen, then a nurse (whom I initially thought was a member of the public) led me away and took some X-rays, then played around with my arm for 15 minutes without a clue what she was doing and said I was fine and to go home. I was definitely not convinced (neither was dad after seeing the x-ray) so I went to a private hospital where I'd got an appointment the next day, and saw a specialist who after 1 minute of pressing parts of my hand diagnosed hairline breaks in 3 fingers, 1 bone on the top of my hand, and in the most fragile bone in the wrist (which very nearly had to be wired), which was then all confirmed by looking more carefully at the original x-ray. Madness!
