Briggsy
For those of you that are interested, I've heard very strong rumours that when Dave Pearce leaves Radio 1, he's going to a station that starts with a V and ends in an N, and used to be owned by a Mr Branson. He'll aso apparently have free reign over his show too - so expect the anthems to go in favour of Dave's "proper" Trance. Hopefully this'll show the critics that Dave isn't just "that cheesy bloke" off the radio. Quite a good move by that particular station if its true. Its just a shame they're not FM - but hey, listen on Sky
Marty Mayes
O this would be good as i loved daves show and his style of trance hope your right briggsy
Briggsy
hope your right briggsy So do I other wise i'll look a right tit - but it has come from a good source so i'm confident - plus the timing seems right because said station is having a major shuffle around at the moment and re-promoting the station - and part of that shuffling includes a new dance show. So Dave and the new dance show tie-in together. Fingers crossed.
lennox2s2s
This could be true as I read before a press release on Dave's official website stating that he had another radio venture on the pipeline but wouldn't be releasing no comment on the matter until his present contract terminates with Radio 1. Yeah, besides, if it was a small local radio station somewhere, then I doubt Radio 1 would be bothered about him announcing it publicly because it would have no effect on their listening figures at all. The station I mentioned though is a national station - and could have an impact on Radio 1's listeners - particularly if they put Dave Pearce in a head-to-head time slot with someone like Jules or Annie Mac. The only other stations I could see Dave going to are Kiss, Galaxy (unlikely because they're making serious cutbacks and networking a lot of their shows), possibly Capital Radio (although they're not very dance-orientated) or perhaps a big group that own lots of stations such as Emap or Gcap. I doubt those groups would have the money though - especially as both have a lot of money tied up at the moment - so its looking more and more likely to be the sttaion I mentioned. If not, then it more than likely to be a return to Kiss.

Quadrant
Are we saying Dangerous David will play some nice Trance for us there? Can anyone confirm it wont be (too) full of commercial tripe and he'll at least allow a bit of a proper mix? Not surprised someone snapped him up. Max Kane
The station you allude to has absolutely no dance output at all does it? Would be a strange one
Briggsy
The station you allude to has absolutely no dance output at all does it? Would be a strange one They're going through a complete overhaul to compete with the other national stations - and a dance show is part of their plans apparently. They also applied for an FM license, but that was turned down.
attilasumer
ahh thats cool news - will look forward to the announcement, listen to Virgin a bit of my DAB radio, not too bad a station be interesting to see what else happens if they are having a shuffle-around, can be a bit too chart-indie at times..... Moonman
I'm still thinking he'll be going to Kiss. I can't see any other station taking him on. As soo as he announced his new radio venture i immediately thought Kiss FM.

As soo as he announced his new radio venture i immediately thought Kiss FM. I must admit, I thought the same. He has previous history with them, and they've very dance orientated. I couldn't really picture him anywhere else. Virgin seems too 'cut off' for someone like Dave - its a big station, but nobody really listens to AM stations, so he'd be wasted on there. He's still got plenty of years ahead of him as a presenter. Regardless of what people think of him as a club DJ, nobody can deny that he's a superb presenter - he sounds very professional and has the right voice for radio. Quadrant
I hope Dave creates positive waves at Virgin. It could be a good thing where he creates a unique dance niche. I'm all for introducing a station which doesnt have dance music to dance music, whatever flavour. Excellent. When does he start? And is virgin only available in mono sound because it isnt FM? He's due to make an announcement on his website in a few weeks. He can't say anything at the moment because of his Radio 1 contract. Yeah, Virgin is only available in mono on AM. I think its stereo quality on Sky though?

Briggsy
This is all starting to tie-in with what I was told. I was told there was going to be re-branding (although I thought they meant a change of slogan rather than a completely new station name), and I was told they were putting some serious investment in the station - so two out of the three things I was told match up. The third one was Dave Pearce joining Virgin. Lets see if that ties-up aswell. We'll find out in a few weeks. Virgin won't announce they're having a dance station yet because if they do, the media will ask who the DJ is going to be - and with Dave leaving Radio 1, it won't take much of a genius to work out who the replacement will be. We'll see. I'm even more convinced he's going to Virgin now.
JasonB
Sad to see the Virgin name go, all gone to pot far as I'm concerned now.
Max Kane
I never really listened to Virgin anyway, it didn;t really have any shows that I cared about & seemed to specialise in 'dad-rock'. I always remember my Dad would have it on when he was decorating or something singing-a-long to 70's rock
Briggsy
It could have played the best music in the world, but i'd have never listened to it simply because its on AM and not FM. I hate listening to sound in mono. Its completely pointless.
Uberduck
Virgin everything annoys me; it's such a rubbish brand (although I wouldn't mind beardy's cash). The Virgin Cola used to taste like s***. The whole design of the logo looks rubbish and I automatically associate it with crap cola.
