simonross46 Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 This is a drawing I have recently finished towards my A-Level Art couse. It is an A2 drawing of a Supermarine Spitfire flying over London during World War Two. The Spitfire was drawn from one of my own photos and the background is a real photo from World War Two, and I have taken the time to ensure my drawing is exactly the same as the photo I had (this eventually racked up to 23 hours of drawing time in total. I am immensely proud and I am showing everyone, so I wanted to let you all see it too! Link to drawing (Click image to make larger): http://simonross46.deviantart.com/art/Spit...ondon-104203948 I'm sure you will all be impressed Simon

Aza Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Very nice mate - extremely realistic and professionally looking!
Justin Haze Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Yeah very impressive mate i wish i could sketch like that mate tis a rare talent
simonross46 Posted November 21, 2008 Author Report Posted November 21, 2008 Cheers guys. I am very grateful for these skills, makes me proud to see some of the drawings displayed and be able to tell people I was the one who made them happen ... or better still, to see peoples reactions without them realising the person who did them is a few feet away!
lennox2s2s Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Very impressive brother...you have a real talent there.
JasonB Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Suprbative ooooooooooooohhhhhhh yeeeeeaaaaaaah
bigsteve Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 That is really amazing Fantastic sketch.
Uberduck Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Amazing picture mate. Makes me proud to be British seeing one of our great icons flying over London! Glad you were selective with your choice of background; wouldn't have looked the same if it was flying over the London Eye or Milennium Dome!
simonross46 Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 haha thats exactly right Uberduck ... I'm always proud when I see a Spitfire, but it had to be in it's natural environment Thanks for all the comments once again!
Number2Fan Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 God that's crap, thought you were supposed to be good at drawing?? (Quite obviously a joke but we don't want your head getting too big, headphones don't come in extra large for a start) Really good drawing Simon, how long did it take? Was it from your mind or did you have some subjects?
simonross46 Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 It's appauling I know, thanks for your honesty That took 23 hours in total. I drew from 2 photographs, the Spitfire was a photo from my camera and the background is a photo of London actually during WW2
Quadrant Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Amazing sir! Have you considered life drawing classes?
simonross46 Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 I've done a life drawing class once before .. didn't enjoy it very much (and the drawngs show it, i ended up drawing cartoon faces on them all)
Number2Fan Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 EWWWWWWWWWWWW! Life drawings, always some old tattooed pervert posing in the cold for 20 quid an hour!
simonross46 Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 Fortunately I had a sexy blonde lady haha
Quadrant Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 No in all seriousness sir, that picture is superb. Can you do a drawing of me in all my knight's regalia? Prefably combing these two...
simonross46 Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 I would do the drawings squire, but apart from having loads of work already towards art ... I can't draw faces or the human form. The closest I have gone towards doing a drawing like it is the one of 'Sophie Trollope', but I had her cover her face for the exact reason mentioned in this post lol
Number2Fan Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 AHA!!! Something I can do better than you at last!!! LOL I can draw faces, piece of p***, actually no its really hard but I can do it, and people say its good, and "you can tell who it is" Which I've never worked out whether its a good thing or not. To me they look fine, but I may be deluded. Anyway, Quadders is that really you???
