Aza Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Gonna get a new pair of headphones with my cdj's. What would you say are industry standard or the best to go for? I've knocked it down to the Sony vr 700's or Sennheiser hd25. Bit of a price difference like, but my mixing it taken seriously, thus worth the investment.
Robin Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Sony's mate... they're a better all round headphones than the Sennheisers, but, if they're only gonna be for DJing, go for the HD25's since they go loud!
Aza Posted September 26, 2005 Author Report Posted September 26, 2005 Well fundamentally they will be used for Dj'ing, but may need em for other purposes. Have you used either mate at a gig etc?
Robin Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Yeah, I've used both. The Senn's are better for gigging with but as a general all purpose headphone, they're not very good. I like the weight of the Senn's when in DJ mode a lot, but, for overall general purpose including DJing, the Sony's are better.
Bjorn Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 very personal choice, but i'd say sennheiasers, easily, i hate the really big headphone,s the hd25's are evry nice and light and comfortable!
ALF Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 I`d go for the Sennheisers also - you need to get high quality low bass response if possible. Otherwise you will be missing a lot of the nice low frequencies of trance music.
Aza Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 Cheers guys - think mind is made up now
whos_this_guy Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I had a set of the sony's though wasnt keen on them due to there size. was in the local eletronc shop and was able to try the sen's out. loved them. they are so easy to pack away in to the cd case. replaceable headbands, ear peices and wires arre avaiable also.
Robin Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Lemme guess... you're going for the Senn's?!?!!??! Wise choice if they're predominatly gonna be used for mixing =o)
Aza Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 Yes mate - think so! Cheers for your help
Si_E_P Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 itsa very personal choice really, i use the senns after extensive testing of a range of headphones inc sonys. its really down to how much u want to feel the headphones, for me i found the sonys to bulky and heavyweight hence i went for hd25. Although the hd25sp are not a bad alternitive, a little quieter than its brother but a very good headphone. i guess thats all i can really say on the matter
Neuro Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Still have my Sony MDR-605's from years ago and they can take some loud stuff, though I wouldn't recommend them in a club environment at all. Perfect for at-home audio scutiny though.
Uberduck Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 The sony vr700's are way too big in my opinion. Its like having burger-buns on your head. I had a pair of the vr500's but they're w*** at high volume and were a bit easy to break. Still havent got a new pair :? although I promise i'll buy some this month. The stand in pair im using are ok for bedroom use but I feel you'd be laughed at in public  .
Bjorn Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 ive got the 500's - and have unfortunately develpped a small crack in the hinged bit, oh dear. I think they ok tho, nice and comfy, pretty smallish ones, 700's are deffo too big 'burger buns' lol!
JasonB Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Got the 500's too, Argos used to do 'em! says it all really!
Robin Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 I have the 500s and they've been great for me! They've been the best all round lightweight headphone I could have wished for... don't be hating the 500s!!!
Bjorn Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 i think they're quality, loved em - but when i get a new pair i'll get the sennheisers!
Neuro Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 What would you recommend for home-listening? Need replacements for my old Sonys that will satisfy my most ruthless musical scrutiny....
