Briggsy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'm glad I coldn't get the Radio 1 I-player to work last night now. Doesn't look too exciting really. Quote
simonross46 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I wasn't overly amazed by the show ... but when Kamui came on in the car and my brother turned it up, oh that was pretty damn cool Quote
Number2Fan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'm glad I coldn't get the Radio 1 I-player to work last night now. Doesn't look too exciting really. I find that tho, if I see the T/list before I play stuff, it's not so exciting, I never look if I can help it, sometimes I do look and it ruins it, I wished I hadbn't seen any secret santas Tracklist beforehand too, altho they were all still really good, it just takes the edge off slightly I think. Unless its a list of tunes you've never heard of! Quote
Briggsy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I just think that its a tracklisting full of either average tunes (there's been much better around this year), or tunes that have been overplayed. Sander van Doorn bores me rigid too. Good producer, but as a DJ, I find him massively over-rated and a bit of a bore Quote
JasonB Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 I listened up untill just before chuckie yesterday inbetween the break of the darts and found it so so, theres been better year review shows from jules and this is not one of the better ones. Quote
MrKrump Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 i think it just shows how bad a year its been for tunage. Why was Lifter played? That was Ibiza 07 wasnt it? or am i going mad? Quote
Number2Fan Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 looks alright to me, I can't wait til this summer, and winters tunes come out! Quote
JasonB Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 theres been a hell of a lot better stuff than some in this show for sure, but its the stuff that jules and sander have had big reactions to so fai do's Quote
Briggsy Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Why was Lifter played? That was Ibiza 07 wasnt it? or am i going mad? No, you're right. I wondered that myself. 2007 was when Lifter first surfaced - although it didn't get its official release until February last year, so I guess in a way, it still qualifies as a tune from last year. I'm surprised he didn't dig out Tom Day - Whisper aswell. He caned that for about a year. Quote
C.D.Santos Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 with all due respect to everyone, i honestly thought 2008 was a poor year for dance music, where were all the funky house hits ? pjanoo to name one any others ? the trance wasnt as dissapointing for me but it would be great to hear jules play more upfront pounding trance again Quote
Uberduck Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Sander van Doorn vs. Robbie Williams – Close My Eyes (Doorn) Available from iTunes if anybody is actually bothered about it anymore. I'm not that fussed. Quote
Max Kane Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I enjoyed 2008, musically, an awful lot. But my musical tastes continued to move further & further away from where Jules is now. Not a bad thing just an observation Quote
simonross46 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I managed to get hold of the SVD Robbie Williams tune today ... but it's not a very special tune to me, I just happened to see it in the list. Quote
MrKrump Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 chris lake about 2 years ago did a good remix of Robbie Williams "Shes Madonna". That was quite good. Better than Sanders effort i think. Quote
Briggsy Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 with all due respect to everyone, i honestly thought 2008 was a poor year for dance music I agree - but like Tom says, each year seems to have its sound. 2008 was the year for Prog and Anjuna-style floaty bollocks (thats a new sub-genre i'm creating just for Anjuna/A&B Trance). A lot of people thought 2006 was a poor year - whereas I loved it because it was all about the Discover 'driving' Trance sound, and also there was a lot of decent pacey Tech-Trance around - both styles which suit my style perfectly. I've got a horrible feeling that for early 2009, the Anjuna-style nonsense will still be released by the truckload. Quote
Briggsy Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Available from iTunes if anybody is actually bothered about it anymore. I'm not that fussed. Not really sure why I-Tunes are selling it when Sander gave it out free to subscribers of his mailing list about 3 months ago? Seems strange. Quote
