RobCorbo Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Hey guys!! Good weekends?! Nice little techy trance remix here Everyone loves the original so I went my own way with this and it actually didnt come out to bad at all! Im thinking of sending to perfecto but i wanna see what everyone thought first!! Link - http://www.4shared.com/file/120853735/e9b5a014/Bullet_In_The_Gun__Rob_Corbo_Remake__Demo.html Cheers guys! JasonB Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Its another one of those 'the vocals don't seem to fit at all' ones.
FuzzY-LogiC Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 sorry man, this doesn't do it at all for me... way too long breakdown with way too much piano that doesn't really go anywhere. and i'm with Jason on the vocals that doesn't really fit. imho, another classic that should be left alone, but hey - that's just me...
Number2Fan Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I thought it was ok, could do with a middle and an end, but it was only a sample wasn't it? (I mean a sample of the whole tune)
Marty Mayes Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Doesnt do it for me with or without the accapella over it! It should be left alone the original cant be touched
JasonB Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Oh yes it can! Rabbit In The Moon and Solarstone mixes both improved on it regardless of this ere remix lolageness.
Neuro Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 It's very hard re-working a classic and trying to replicate that cutting-edge atmosphere, especally in the breakdown. Saturday Mix from 99 always for me...
Hardaway Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Really like this take on 'Bullet in the Gun' Given it a real fresh sound for 2009. Great Work mate.
FuzzY-LogiC Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Saturday Mix from 99 always for me... hear hear!
Number2Fan Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I always found the vocals too cheesey for my liking anyway. Maybe that's why I'm not hurt by the remix. I mean, wtf? Could never place what the lyrics would be about for me I'm afraid.
RobCorbo Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 Fair comments guys! I knew it wouldnt impress most people on this board anyways just wanted to share it anyways! Getting some support already from solarstone...it actually led me to now be remixing the new Robbie Nelson track lol! So can't be disheartened! Corbo
RobCorbo Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 Just been talking to Kenneth Thomas and heres what he said.... ''Its decent. Fairly minimal and basic for trance, no real chord progressions but that kinda works with it. Very driving. Very raw feel. My biggest issue with it is the breakdown, its almost 3 min with nearly 2 min of just pads and the vocal. It will probably be a bit of a floor clearer for a lot of djs but it will probably work for Paul since he plays to such big crowds, but yea, id definitely look at droping some of that breakdown, like 2:50-3:40 could probably go, either way, djs generally like to keep the rhythm going unless its a super epic trancer or something. this remix is a driving middle of the set type record and that break really looses the flow'' I have to put my hands down to you lot and agree on the breakdown!! LOL even while looking at the file on Ableton Live you can see its incredibly long I guess I just got carried away in the moment! lol Corbo
Number2Fan Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Just took you longer to eat that MacDonalds than you thought!
JasonB Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 It's nice of Kenneth to give some feedback like that, always good.
JasonB Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Heard Solarstones latest show and his exclusive, well one of them anyhows being this, still not muchto the track really it is just the breakdown thats the meat and there aint much meat but Ive said my bit soI'll shurrup
