simonross46
Does anyone know anything about this? I keep coming across videos on www.decks.co.uk where famous DJ's are praising this new kit and wondered if anyone has come across snippets in magazines or anything? Ian_k
my guess is it will be kept very hush hush til the release date. rumour has it the new pioneer cdj 1000 mk4 is on its way
Briggsy
From the interviews that have been knocking around, it just seems to be a super-duper mixer with more DVJ capabilities.
Moonman
from what i can gather, i think it'll be basically a CDJ format/layout with some kind of hard drive plug in.
Ian_k
i think that alot of the rumours are bollocks tbh....and they may suprise us with something different. most likely items are new pioneer cdj, new mixer, and possibly new dvj
Moonman
i wouldnt be surprised if the CDJ was just a 1000 with some features from the CDJ 400.
Briggsy
I can't remember who's interview it was, but he gave very strong clues that is was something aimed more towards DVJs. There have been fake pictures of several CDJ1000 MK4's floating around (all of which are different), and since they surfaced, everyone has said that its a CDJ1000 MK4 that is going to be released. I don't think its anything to get too excited about to be honest.
Ian_k
since everyone is now getting on the dvj bandwagon, thats probably where there market is primerirly aimed at. that and the cdj 1000 and 800, as they could do with a revamp. theres already been new pioneer mixers out, so no need to go there
Moonman
As for the 1000 & 800, do they really need anything doing to them though? They really are perfect at what they do. They are solid, reliable and accurate. If i was Pioneer, i wouldnt touch them...if it aint broke and all that. Techincs didnt mess about with the 1200's much did they? I dont want bells and whistles, just an accurate pitch and decent jog wheel.
Ian_k
the 800 could do with some more features, but nothing too ott. possibly the 1000 could too, id add usb support for external media, possibly bigger display and thats about it
Briggsy
I got an HTFR email through today - and they've got exclusive first UK rights to the new Pioneer range. One of the new products is a Pioneer DJM-5000 mixer which has USB capabilities and MIDI control for laptop DJs.
Tremor
Blimey wouldn't have thought HTFR would have got the exclusive... not used them at all in years and would never think of getting DJ kit from them. I heard rumours of a new CDJ as well although a guy in Ibiza was calling it the CDJ-2000.. same idea it's meant to be a 1000 with USB for external media. Could well be a load of bull though in light of what Briggsy has just revealed above.
Ian_k
iv always found htfr a decent shop tbh, sell alot of gear, but bloody overpriced!
Tremor
Fair enough. I've not used it since I was buying vinyl new back in 2001/2002 or something so its not fair for me to comment now really. Back then they were pretty slow at dispatching stuff. Tunes would take between 3-5 days or longer where all the other online stores would do next day. It didn't have such a big equipment range back then but I guess with the near death of vinyl now they must be pushing that side of the business alot more. Ian_k
they got there act together in about 2004 onwards and was pretty quick, reasonable delivery charges. there vinyl was overpriced and they got a bad reputation but they then started working on a heck of a lot on there equipement range and they do alot of gear nowdays competitively priced and do a price match promise
simonross46
I used HTFR when I had to replace the headphone pads on the Sony's I got from Ian K (wanted black not luminous green hehe). I do find things to be a bit pricey in their catalogue but other than that Im thought they were acceptable really.

Quadrant
They have to come out with something every year with new features - makes moer money! Personally I will ignore this tripe... hopefully it will mean their current models will go down in price.
