I've had a few arguments with people over this essential mix. The tunes within are excellent & it's a solid mix BUT at the end of the day I felt it was a little dissapointing. It was literally a straight two hours of mixing not any different to what you can hear across any internet radio site 24/7. I just felt it may have been better to be a little more creative than just whack on two hours of (albeit it very good) trance music with no build up or changes of pace.

This by no way represents my view of Patterson as whenever I have seen him play out he's been awesone & this as a club set I'm sure would rock but for an essential mix I felt like I wanted more

I thought this set was quality. I agree with Tom in that it's not really an 'essential' mix, but I'm not convinced there's that much great trance around at the moment, so this was a breath of fresh air.

I remember 10 years or so ago, I would set my tape recorder to record the essential mix every week; I rarely bother even checking who's on these days. Moving from Saturday nights was a big mistake IMO and while I know the BBC are cost-cutting, but the lack of coverage from live events doesn't help either (there used to be one a month).
