Hardaway Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV123cmaFi8&NR=1 Unsure of what remix is playing of Deadmau5, But how many times has anyone heard him dropping drum & bass tunes? I for one have never.. Quote
Ian_k Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 he's dropping more dnb style mixes, nothing too heavy though. Quote
Quadrant Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Jules used to play some DnB when he was at Kiss FM... I think it was his "anything goes" feature, and also every week in his early Radio 1 days. The variety disappeared some time ago so it's nice to see him throwing in other genres - what a proper DJ should do! Quote
JasonB Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 J Majik & Wickaman Remix Why would anyone play drum n bass during trance set? well oakie did on one GU album but that was years back... Quote
Ian_k Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 the J Majik & Wickaman Remix i actually like. and its good to break things up and try different genres. 3 hours of just pure trance would get a bit boring imo, but a set ranging from prog, through to tech trance, through a bit of dnb then to peaktime stuff would be interesting. Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I like a bit of everything, that's why I like Jules, he's often a bit of everything. Purely TRANCE would be boring. Jules used to play a bit of DnB around 97 ish and actually as DnB is having a 'second coming' atm alot of other DJ's are dropping a DnB tune here and there, I know Seb did, and the other week and the cheese fest club I went to there was a DnB medley at about 2.30am!!! Moonman Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 D&B is taking in a lot more influences now. I partcularly like the disco influenced sound. D&B always needed melody to it, otherwise, its just noise. The fact that Annie Mac now supports it quite heavily on her radio show aswell opens it up to more people. Quote
Ian_k Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 besides which music genres re-invent themselves, and also if you listen to quite a few dance tracks they take influences from different genres. Quote
Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Yeah some DnB is trancey sounding, some is hard, tbf Jules has been known to play industrial Techno, in a regular set, if a DnB tune fits in and ya like it, PLAY IT!! Jules did used to play other stuff ya know, before the Trance era. Quote
Ian_k Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 i thought years ago he was pre-dominantly a house dj before the trance scene?? tbh he defines his sound nowdays as trance with funky overtones, me personally i class it as more tech trance. he did used to play some blinding techno though i.e mauro picotto - baguette, such a tune!!! Quote
Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 A mixed bag with a hint of cheddar!! Quote
Hardaway Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009  Yeah its a wicked remix, of a tune of love. not normally a fan of deadmau5 remixes, but must admit this one gotta be in the bag for New Years Eve! Quote
Simcut Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I think its a good thing, diversity is always a good thing Quote

He used to play lots of great House before he went full-on with the (now classic) Trance explosion that happened in 1998/1999. Definitely went all Techy in the last few years and its a sound I've never been 100% fond of to be honest. The purest actual Techno tracks I've ever heard Jules play though were some Henrik B tracks like the below... I think back in 2004: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anExhLkPKbo Quote
Briggsy Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I like Techy - but not Jules's taste in Techy. He plays a lot of Marco V / Sander van Doorn style tech-trance - whereas I prefer it when he was playing the harder style Tech-Trance back in the BXR days. Quote
Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I want boobs like that, and I really like that tune. Genres are funny things though and many tunes can crossover genres and will sandwich between tunes of an alternative genre easily. Garage - House - Techno - Tech trance - Trance - Hard House - Hard Trance - Tech House - Speed garage - DnB - Jungle - Dubstep!! Who decides what's what? What are the exact definitions? Mixed bag innit! Variety is the spice of life!!! Quote
kml Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I want boobs like that, and I really like that tune. And face to go with it Quote
Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Nowt wrong with my face matey!! People WANT me!! Quote
kml Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Nowt wrong with my face matey!! People WANT me!! I know. You weren't bad looking circa 1994 lol Quote
Number2Fan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 You can't help it... sorry for spamming btw, I spam no more here! :nuke: There's an essential mix somewhere with Jules wapping out a bit of DnB in it. 97-98 maybe? Quote
