Max Kane Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Haha Ones to watch must have been the most ego-massaging waste of time ever! Shameless self promotion like that is partially responsible for trance being on it's arse
JasonB Posted January 8, 2012 Author Report Posted January 8, 2012 Sever lack of promoting new talent, The one's choosing the tracks are the tips for 2012 it seems, quite how above & beyond let alone Jono and all the others should qualify when they;'ve all been around a while isbeyond me.
Quadrant Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 Ones to watch 2012 Gareth Emery 17. Gareth Emery - 'Tokyo' [ben Gold Remix] [Garuda] This is stupid. How can you promote an artist by showcasing somebody else's remix? It's not the 1980s anymore when a "remix" used to be little more than a fancy re-edit.... this is Ben Gold you're hearing here, pure and simple :wall: :wall:

I must admit very poor selections overall. If that not the case then why would Jules highlight Gareth Emery as one to watch in 2012? Gareth's sets are repetitive, predictable and most off all poor.
Max Kane Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 There is a real lack of ingenuity in any of the selections and they have all been used to hock their merchandise (which is sadly the norm). The days of Gaz or A&B using their selection to shed light on a brand new producer who has sent them a few demos and that they believe will make it or blow up are gone. They're all there to sell as many records and play as big a gig as they can because they know that the commercial "boom" which is being enjoyed by the big boys will end as soon as a record exec manages to make money out of some other genre
Craig Bradley Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 i wasnt on the list damn lol gotta keep trying haha
Max Kane Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 i wasnt on the list damn lol gotta keep trying haha This is the thing though - a producer such as yourself, who has made a breakthrough of sorts and has limitless potential, would be a much better "tip" then just playing a record by a huge star and remixed by a huge star. I hate this aspect of trance music right now - it's just self promotion through any avenue available
Briggsy Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 If Gareth Emery and Jono 'Above & Beyond' Grant are the ones to look out for this year - then i'd hate to hear the ones to avoid in 2012. RIP The Trance Scene.
Craig Bradley Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 thanks tom means alot really appreciate your comments im not too fussed to be honest ill keep doing my own thing
