bigsteve Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Anyone else noticed the increasing usage of people's message board posts being used in the press (TV & papers) to illustrate people's feelings after a tragedy? For example when John Peel died last year, quotes were taken from forums and displayed in the press as 'MusicLover_52 said of the loss "This is a sad...."' It makes you realise just how your comments on any part of the web can be exposed beyond it.
Quadrant Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Yes I have - but surely a messageboard is the most unreliable source you can get? It's anonymous and wholly unrepresentative of anyone or group except for the person who posted it. :?
bigsteve Posted February 2, 2006 Author Report Posted February 2, 2006 I suppose if there's lots of similar comments, they could just pick one out and it would be representative of 'the board.' Just saves the press going out on the street to get opinions I suppose...
