  1. Anything and everything you like!

Over the years these have been real great fun - and personally something I endeavor to put much thought into.

A lot of us have approached from the angle of classic Jules tune which has been homage to this site, but also knowing the wider audience on here can share and listen.

With it being in the spirit of festivities at that time of year makes it just that that little extra special :)

  2. I think it's Tong too who oversees the EMix stuff. He voices them all most certainly.

Know what you mean Jason, guess most think back to Jules' R1 days, but yes granted he's still continued to dj with his current sound since that.

That said, the emix typically warrants that extra something special, look at how different djs that have done in the last even when doing a live set. Personally, Eddie Halliwell at Ascension I'm Manchester was just that, he later offerings back on Ibiza all were that much more 'thought out' than a typical sounding set to which we know the dj from.

Jules even used to do this himself, just look back at the previous ones he's done.

Eric Prydz too, he's done a few lately and all individually unique and special.

Also look at Mat Zo's offering, nothing like his mix sets, but it was special and homage to the EMix brand.

  3. Interesting comments above. I'm still going to give this a listen for sentiment, will share my thoughts once done :)

    Here's the set list...

    Feedback warmly welcomed :)

I've not long signed up on Soundcloud so will be uploading there soon.

  5. Thanks for all the responses. I'll provide info around dates soon...

What are you guys thinking in terms if set length, CD or club set length i.e. 80 or 2hrs?

Guessing we'll do this digitally via mp3 too?

  6. I'll second that! Only just the other day I played this when driving... Makes you fully appreciate just how awesome Ferry was in putting across so many beautiful tracks with real quality, but also v.nicely mixed - and all would've been solidly mixed on 1210s with vinyl!

Regarding the ones I collect, it started out with this very cd, which is something Ferry went on to do five times. It went up to Trance Nation 4 and the fifth, which turned out to be his last was called Trance Nation 2001.

I have then got one Jules did, which was the classics mix. But also Rank 1's and Cosmic Gate's. There was a pretty good offering from Andy Moor which introduced me Mat Zo's 24 hours (one of my highly respected tracks) and now this CD from Lange thay looks good.

  7. Good to hear - a nice share, thanks!

Here's hoping it's indeed something special and homage to the good days!

For him to announce now means the Beeb have given plenty of notice, which is always something I wondered how the BBC do? For example, do they ask you to send in a 2 hour recording and they then add jingles etc over it? It's hardly ever done live now is it?

Guess this was the case with Mat Zo's mix, which would've had a lot of time spent on it!

I really do hope it's a kinda classics mix, spread over the decades of his highlights - and not a mix set from the current era.

  8. Hi all,

Had chance to put together a new mix recording and thought would share with you all here.

It's a club-set style mix - spanning trance to club/electro/progressive house and electro-tech - featuring a lot of my favourite artists/DJs and currently played tracks - all for your entertainment! Thought I'd finish up with one of Jules latest offerings, which is quite a beefy track and I've also thrown in a production from one a Cardiff DJ/producer to help support and promote.

All fits on a cd - with thrown in a cue sheet - or whack on your MP3 players :)

Hope you find it a good listen - feedback as always welcomed - here's the tracklist:

    1. Marco V - Red Blue Purple [in Charge]
    2. Jeremy Olander - Riots (Original Mix) [Pryda Friends]
    3. Blaze - My Beat (Ambassador Extended Mix) [Vinyl Version] [slip n Slide]
    4. Kurd Maverick & Jermaine Dupri - Hell Yeah (Original Mix) [Tiger]
    5. Michael Woods - Bullet (Original Mix) [Cubrik]
    6. Eddie Halliwell - Rock This Place (Original Club Mix) [Toolroom]
    7. Empire of the Sun - Alive (Mat Zo Remix) [Capitol]
    8. Gareth Emery feat. Christina Novelli - Concrete Angel (Original Mix) [Garuda]
    9. Pryda - Layers (Original Mix) [Pryda Friends]
    10. Liam O'Connol - Electric (Original Mix) [House]
    11. Gareth Emery - Meet Her In Miami (Original Mix) [Garuda]
    12. Ferry Corsten - F The Bull$h1t [Flashover]

  9. Hey all,

Wanted to report back and update you on this, but firstly wanted to thank you all for your input and much valued help...

leena@involvedmanagement.com for general enquiries and his Manager is called James Grant.
    (Courtesy Mat Zo's Facebook)

Thanks so much for this info, we did manage to get through to the right person to inquire.

Try contacting Mat directly via Facebook/Twitter first. 95% of DJ's will send you straight back to their agent and ask you to do things via them - but if you're lucky, some will deal with you directly (and charge a hell of a lot less as a result - agents take quite a big chunk and insist on other add-ons to bump up the price!).

We did try and would've much preferred to interact directly, but to no avail.

Good luck Aza, hope all goes well with hiring Matt Zo :)

All the best with this dude, I genuinely hope it all works out.

It's so tough with new nights, there needs to be a balance between getting someone that you're into & that is popular within the scene and then bridging that gap to the mainstream guys n gals who will attend your night.

I'm not sure Mat Zo has the necessary pull (relative to his likely fee) to be value for money but I guess he has had R1 airplay of late and the Essential Mix will have boosted his profile.

Knowing the catchment crowd will be invaluable in making your decision

Thank you both, but unfortunately it's now very doubtful for reasons below...

I agree with Tom here. I know you like Mat and want to book him because you like his music, etc - but at the end of the day, if he costs £500, unless you're not too bothered about losing some cash, you do need to try to get that fee back.

Before you commit to any DJ, it might be worth doing a bit of market research first. Who have other nights in your area booked before? Which DJ's pulled people in - and which flopped? Is it better to spend an extra £200 on a different DJ that will pull in an extra 50 people and put you into profit, rather than paying £200 less for a DJ that might not work and end up losing you money? It's a fine line - so try to find some things out first.

After speaking with Mat's agent a fair bit and running through all the details etc., which they ask you to answer (all of which are variables in determining a cost), we were quoted a fair few times what's bold quoted above.

We weighed it up and it was only based on 400-500 people and ultimately could not afford the risk. We did consider paying some out of our own pockets, but it came down to not being able to do so.

It's a shame since we were/are psyched and would've loved to put him on and promote the whole thing. Expenses inc. hotel were also to be on top of that.

I'm not sure if rates have moved on a lot from years ago and would've loved to compare to what Jules for example would charge.

    Thanks to all again :)
