  1. I think this is wonderful news! I have heard from so many sources (except Chelsea fans) that there are many other unsavoury off-pitch stories involving him, just that the media haven't got hold of them. Whilst a superb defender, he is pre-empting the guilty verdict by the FA tomorrow, methinks! Thoughts?

  2. I admit I haven't been on these forums much of late (new job & all) but damn it's quiet!

Prior to this post there hadn't been a single post in Open Chat for 15 days!

That's because everybody has been on holiday I expect! Myself included, me and the wife have just come back from Tunisia. It was wonderful.

What's Jules's new hairdo then? Pic?

  3. We all know that Android phones have long and interesting names, but I bet you didn’t know how much Android smartphone names had in common with condoms.

So Intercom.io helpfully put together this comparison list that will help you figure out the answer to the biting question, “Android or Condom?”

  4. I've not read the criticism but I will start my own here with my honest opinion, which is exactly that, he has tried to cash in on the "sound" of the moment rather than stay true to his roots. That really annoys me, and the reason it has received such negative reaction is we and everybody worth his salt already knows that Ferry is THE pioneer of Trance, personally responsible for a lot of THAT special era in 1999... and this remix unfortunately will not be the gateway we hoped it might be to tempt the average young Justin Bieber listener to delve deeper into his musical consciousness and experience just for once - shall we say - the 'less commerical' side of dance music for a change.

I wouldn't say I'm stuck in the past, although I admit love Ferry's mastermixes and tracks/remixes from the past, but how can you even like this stuff? How?

It's so frustrating for a dance music lover, (or "EDM" as the Americans call it  ), so frustrating...

  5. Not sure what to say about this. Terrible :wall:

MixMag states that after receiving "a strong and largely uncomplimentary reaction from his following", Corsten defended his decision with the following reply:

"Hey guys, as a response to some extremely ridiculous reactions to me doing a remix for Justin Bieber, I just want to say this. The request for this remix came in and I found it quite a challenge to make a dance radio remix for such a young and talented artist. And YES, if you can play three instruments and you can sing, I call you talented!

I just had fun producing this, please don’t cry over it, I create EDM!"

Here it is. I can't see anybody on here rushing to put it in their next mix!:

  6. I feel honoured to be the first to reply to this.

Thanks for the memories, Jules. You frustrated and delighted in equal measure but we wouldn't have it any other way. And if it wasn't for your shows I would never have discovered dance music. Thank you!

    07. W-Unit - 'Acid Impact' [white label]

Also good to see another yet another member of this board get his work played. And on the last show too, congrats @thirddrive

  7. Just bumping this to say I've just bought a tape to mp3 converter today, and I have the missing audio from this set. What is my best bet, just record my full 90 minute tape and upload it onto here? Or where do I upload it to? Just record the missing bits? My tape is missing the middle section which is already on this file. It'd be nice to have the complete set up here, it's my personal favourite set of the era.

I must have a look and see if I've any tapes which aren't up here too.

Sir, do let us know. I've always wanted to hear the rest of this set.

  8. Agreed, I'd buy it. I have only followed him from his late Kiss FM days and then R1. Would love to hear stories about what he was doing in the 80s and early 90s.... probably just "graft" and a great deal of fun along the way, as they say :)

  9. Good point with the longer buildups and breakdowns in the older dance music = actual longer mixes.

The attention span of a clubber has diminished I think - it's all about the 5-minute edited peak, trough, and peak, whereas the older style tracks were longer and had very DJ-friendly intros and outtros, not to mention a middle portion of simpleness which also permitted an earlier window to mix out of.

You only have to look at Mr Armin van Buuren's early stuff, some of them are 12-minute wonders! You'd never see that today.

  10. Totally agree with Marco V - Red, Blue, Purple. Terrible!!

    My one is this:

    Mauro Picotto - Lizard

aka. "It's comin to GET YA!!!!!!!" -----> (no it isn't! F*** off!!)

Reminds me of chavs in liverpool going mental thinking this is the best thing since sliced bread.

  11. I remember Sara Cox did the breakfast show, I think it was Moyles who took over from her. She sounded a bit of a ladette.

Basically it seems BBC R1 are having a clear-out of the old guard - Jules, Grooverider, Moyles all joined in the 1990s and probably costed them a bomb every year to keep
