The BBC have a radio archive which will definitely contain a lot of Jules' shows but it's difficult to obtain permission to access this without good reason, and I'm unsure where or how it is stored. I can't really ask them for a trove of shows just so we can reupload them here as they will refuse it. It might be a case of going through the Radio Times Archive and picking a handful of must-have specific (and missing) shows and asking if they are available from the BBC Sound Archive?

I've often wanted to do this to obtain some old Mark & Lard stuff, not sure what is kept and what isn't. Maybe special ones with guests or ones at times of big world events (9/11) may be on file. Might have more chance with Jules as it's a specialist show. Gaining access is really difficult though.

  3. I've found an old minidisc of Jules' Radio 1 Ibiza show from 2003, which I'm now saving down in audition and will be uploading. I also have the one from 2002 but only a bit of it. I recorded a lot in 2004/5/6 and may have some to throw on, but will upload elsewhere as my interwebs is slow on the upload at home.

  4. I'm 28 this year, and anything post 2009 just isn't up to scratch. I'd of rather been a clubber back in the early 00s, but I was too young then. On the outside looking in sort of thing.

  5. The mix of 'Down With The Underground' isn't Jules' own mix he played on here, or at least I don't think. It's less bass heavy than the one that made it to the vinyl release.

Ir maybe he played a demo remix that never saw the light of day.

This is still one of the greatest mixes Jules has ever done. All the speed garage reminds me of Resident Evil 2 on the playstation, simply because I remember my older cousin playing it when it came out. And he was always playing garage and trance tapes when I was a kid.

  6. btw, what a start to the new year... Pearce smashes Phatt Bass with 147bpm

Yep! Imagine the outcry if a modern DJ today pitched anything up like that! Facebook rants of "it should be 128 not 130!!" etc.

Tiesto's mix of Sweet Surrender is an amazing track. It's hard to comprehend the same DJ who made that is playing what he's playing now.

  7. Has anyone a link for a download for this set or a full track listing, many have 4 or 5 unkown in it,especially the remix of Big Love, cheers!!!

Hmm. I remember Rapture covering a few things like that back in 2000 & 2001, I bet not all of them were recorded though. He does play 'Big Love' at the NEC in 2001 on the link Fuzzy posted.

The track in question was "Bleachin - Peakin". Both the Futureshock Mix and the one Jules plays, the Darude vs Js16 Mix. Were equally as big.

  8. Join Me To The Moon by Studio 613 & Playa Sol by No-one Driving are actually pretty rare, you can't download them legally or illegally anywhere. I bought them on vinyl a couple of years back.

The Playa Sol tune is actually a limited test pressing, as there was a version remixed by Novacane that came out in 2002 I think. The Novacane one had a woman on the vocal and sounded far weaker than the version on here.

Sadly Playa Sol was broken clean in half when it came through the post (thanks Royal Mail), I got some double sided tape and strapped it to an old white label of some crap garage tune that came out of a collection. It plays all the way through, but I took some weight off the needle and captured in wav format so I could play it on my CDJ's.

  9. I remember listening to the latter days of his Saturday night show around 2007, and he randomly dropped F.R.A.N.K T.R.A.X. Nebuchan amongst a load of new tracks in the last half an hour of his show. He did this as well with Gladiator 'Now We Are Free' a couple of years back too. He may have been short on decent recent stuff at the time, something he should of done more often I thought though.

  10. I thought his mixing was a bit off key compared to his Saturday show that was broadcast a few hours before! Saying that I can't argue with his track selection mind, Airwave & Fire and Ice are just so special. As for this being an hour, I'm sure he shared the essential mix that Sunday morning with Paul Van Dyk who did the first hour and Jules the second. This file has just been edited to include Jules, but I've heard PVD's hour on soundcloud.

I was only 12 at the time this went out so wasn't old enough to be there. But it looked a good setup, is it still going in some form?

  11. Tong played this aswell, does this sample The Bucketheads? or was that another bootleg?

    http://www.discogs.com/Spacedust-Music-Feels-Good-With-You/release/61989

I think it's just a built up version of the original, I can't really hear the Bucketheads in there. On the other side of my vinyl is the Stuntmasterz bootleg with Madonna's Holiday, it sounds like they used the Spacedust version as the foreground for their mashup.

Anyway, this needs to be sorted on the tracklistings.
