  1. @Dave: I have a load of saturday night shows that need to be uploaded. I'm currently working on the tracklist archive (there is still some gaps), so I won't upload the whole batch at once...

I've been digging a bit to find some information on set you mentioned.

On August 12th, 2006, Jules' saturday show was broadcasted from Cafe Mambo, Ibiza.

    The Cut-Up minimix was this:

Stardust - 'Music Sounds Better ' (Roule)

Modjo - 'Lady' (Sound Of Barclay)

Felix Da Housecat - 'Silver Screen' (City Rockers)

Kings Of Tommorow - 'Finally' (Defected)

    Chris Lake - 'Changes' (Apollo)

Loletta Holloway - 'Sweet Sensation 2006' (Gusto)

Mousse T - 'Horny' (Peppermint Jam)

Supermode - 'Tell Me Why' (Data)

Nelly Furtado - 'Promiscuous Girl' (Geffen)

Chocolate Puma - 'Always & Forever' [bart Claasen Mix] (Positiva)

Energy 52 - 'Café del Mar' (Hooj Tunes)

and the first two tracks of his show we're...

    01. Chris Lake - 'Changes' (Vocal Version) [Apollo]

    02. Chanel - 'My Life' (Fonzerelli Remix) [Hed Kandi]

check the whole tracklist here: http://www.judgejulesarchive.co.uk/archives/board/index.php?app=ccs&module=pages&section=pages&id=2&record=541

Unfortunately this show is one of the few from 2006 that I don't have :(

Maybe someone else on the board has it...

    i have this.

i tried to upload this to the archive on here, but to complete a bad day it decided to be a bastard and ask me to add a file when i already had done. so i zippyshared the one i recorded at the time through dab, feel free to add it to the archive:-

  2. radio 1 seem to want to phase out dance music completley, sounds a little brutal. but if you think about it, artists like michael gray, tom novy, ferry corsten, ernesto & bastian, eric prydz etc. artists who's tracks were being played on jules' show a few months before got onto the radio 1 playlist as little as 3 years ago.

now in contrast look at todays playlist. can you see - if any, tracks you could class as dance music?

  3. But come on dubstep i really really hate that shit the most annoying thing goin it is

it's down to the fact that the radio 1 management seem to be shortening their age range all the time for the station. i first noticed this happening in 2004 when mark & lard left and they replaced them with colin & edith, a show blatently aimed at people under 20. now it's all about celebs and gossip in the day (hence why i don't listen) with b-list celebs like fearne cotton. i think even kelly osbourne had a stint at radio 1 at one time.

the real beggining was moving and eventually getting rid of dance anthems in 2007/8. some may call it cheesy but i actually miss dave pearce on sunday nights, it's hardly like switch took off in it's place either. the radio 1 management seemed to have been ill advised and are putting all their focus on dubstep, a genre which will have it's day and burn out like 4x4 did before a few years ago. pete tong is next in line without a doubt.

  4. He's a legend - and he played a massive part in my DJ'ing/clubbing interest - but at the same time, he's been past his best for a while. Time to move on.

Hopefully, with his departure from Radio 1, it'll mean that he's playing music that he enjoys - not music that he feels he should be playing to appeal to everyone.

very good point. his knowledge of the golden era if you like in trance and some house is wealthy, especially as he was pinnacle in the years where it was at it's biggest. hopefully he'll do some sort of podcast or go somewhere where he can play the tracks that everyone remembers him for. as for playing out he should do what scott bond did and play the classics from the big era.

  5. You can't say it wasn't coming with the wave of dubstep and Radio 1 turning more & more into a pre-teen station. But it's still made me sad:-

These changes mean that Judge Jules, Gilles Peterson, Kissy Sell Out, Fabio & Grooverider will be leaving Radio 1 next year.

Ben added: "We’d like to thank Jules, Gilles and Fabio & Grooverider for over a decade of hard work and commitment to music at Radio 1, and also to Kissy Sell Out his contribution over the last three years. All are incredibly talented and we wish them the very best for the future.’’

Judge Jules said: "I’ve had an incredible time over the last 14 years at Radio 1. I’m going to continue DJ’ing and I’m having a bit of a career change - I’m off to become an Entertainment Lawyer at Sheridans."

It looks like Jules' trance show is getting replaced with a dubstep show. The end of an era for Trance on Radio 1 as well as Jules.
