  1. I wouldn't be suprised if they are both here, you can download as of now because you've already posted. Happy hunting.
  2. Agreed that radio overall these days is mostly awful and uninteresting. Could you imagine someone like Mark & Lard getting a show today? They wouldn't even take that chance because they aren't bland enough to fit in with the rest, and would actually say if they didn't like a song on the playlist. Capital FM apart from Andi Durrant is a disaster, at least Galaxy would throw in some older tracks now and again. So would Radio 1 at times. Even the pirate stations have gone downhill too. I used to love Groove FM that broadcasted here in the midlands, they were raided a few times but were on air in 1998/99/00 & 2001. They even sounded professional and played upfront tracks at the time:- http://www.thepiratearchive.net/groove.html Pirate stations today around here seem to be stuck on that awful 4x4 garage that burned out 4 years ago.

  4. It's become a waste of license fee. Tong can be good at times but that's it, and the daytime DJ's have no character whatsover. Scott Mills can be ok but he won't be there this time next year. It's like they are androids, told to like and talk about certain things by Ben Cooper.
  5. Are condoms those things you stick on your head and blow up? That was the craze around here in the early 2000's.
  6. Don't think Jules will lose his hair at his age now, it would of happened 15 years ago if it was going to happen. I reckon he'll go for the silver fox look like Kevin 'Messiah' Keegan in 10 years!
  7. Everyone knows John Terry is a n00b, even though he is a fantastic defender. What pisses me off more though is the fact that this had to go through an F.A. hearing, it's like they have only done it to make themselves look more powerful than the courts. Dickheads.
  8. Can't believe Dave Clarke is like that, what a prick. Jules gave big support to his remix of 'Soul Heaven' and was still playing some of his stuff with Arthur Baker on some of my 2004 shows I recorded. What exactly was his problem?
  9. My copy of Stringer has the dub and Tall Paul Remix on there, as well as the extended Vocal. I liked the fact that they were on there too, and I always chose to play the dub. Didn't actually mind the picture of Dannii on the front for artwork though

Only Paris Hilton would still push the eject button first.

Dance music becoming big in America seems to be ruining it, and any creativity that remained with it. Shame it can't be 11 years ago again, where all they knew was Dr Dre and Eminem.

Well he got a Radio 1 show for his efforts for a while, so it seemed all worth it!

I used to go to 3 shades in Birmingham, Hard To Find Records as well, Max Millwards in Wednesfield, and a place called Sundown records in Walsall. Only Hard To Find is still around. One memory that will last forever is a dark winter's Saturday afternoon when I was 12, just before Chrismas 2000. And walking out of Sundown in Walsall with around 6 records, 2 of which were Bullet in a Gun by Planet Perfecto, and Gouryella's Gouryella. I remember listening to Judge Jules on the way back home in the car too. I don't remember downloading my first mp3.

When I started on vinyl over 10 years ago I used to touch the platter on the side if it needed slowing down, and push the record forward slightly near the spindle if it was too slow. When I was setting the pitch through my headphones. I've only just noticed DJ's using the pitch control technique, where they don't touch the record at all. Not for me though. I used to love scratching beats, and sometimes acapellas over dub house tracks. I still can't get that same feel and accuaracy with CDJ's so I don't scratch as much now, unless I wire Traktor into my pair of Vestax PDX-2000's.

Some tunes sounded better with a bit of pitch on I thought, especially a few dub mixes. Can't say I use master tempo myself for dance mixes, unless I go into -%.
  16. My god. How can it be the same person who's remixed this, who mixed together that that Trance Energy mix from 2000 in the audio archive thread? I mean what the hell? Could you imagine Ferry Corsten remixing a Samantha Mumba track 12 years ago? This whole Swedish House Mafia thing that took off about 2008 onwards has spread like bird flu, in the trance section on beatport theres a 128bpm track that would sound like something they would play. 128bpm... Trance!? Seriously!?
  17. Christ, this mix is something else. Bit different from the recent 'Corsten's Countdown' podcast.

I've been listening to a lot of old and new mixes latley, trance and house. And i've realised that back in the days of Technics 1210's DJ's used to use the full +8%, nowdays it sounds like they are terrified of going above 1.5%. I admit it could sound a bit stupid with a vocal track, but I remember Jules playing Airwave at around +6% on some mixes on here.
  19. morillo was pretty decent, nice to hear some classic todd terry in there. i missed the programme earlier, hopefully it's on 4od. worth seeing if there's input from jules.

Have I missed something or just being really stupid here? Has he ever mentioned writing a book about it all? I'm not really a reader, I usually spend my time burning multiple copies of 50 Shades of Gray. But that's a book I'd love to read.

He's as good as he ever was if he wants to be then. I still think there is a market for the classics like above, why play electro house and dubstep because everyone else is doing that anyway these days.
