I made the mix mid-march time, due to me not be able to get to the Kiss studios to record the drops, i had to do them myself with me Numark mic! and it sorta dragged on a bit. All things considered, i didnt think it sounded that bad, given how crude the mic setup was! Its certainly got me going tho to try to get gigs a bit closer to london, thats where the action is, and thats where i wanna be...

  2. i've bought my second pair of these now...i love them and wear them all the time. They are pricey for flip flops, but they are leagues ahead of the h&m, topman, river isalnd flip flops. I love them, does anybody else love these?

  3. 05. Swedish House Mafia - 'One' [sHM] this is very popular isn't it!! Tune of the summer??

got this too, more that i needed it due to it getting requested a fair few times when i played out a few weeks ago; so yes, you're right, i think it will be a big one for summer. I dont really think that much of it personally. Its been signed to Positiva now, so expect the guest rapper vocal on top of it. It is a right bugger to mix though, the first 30 seconds, all the beats change...total nightmare!

Personally for me, the Riva Starr mix of Dennis Ferrer "Hey Hey" is THE tune right now

  4. I've been meaning to do this for a long time now, but never got round to it. I'll tune in if I'm around :) Well done too!!!

Cheers mate, get on the case boi, do a mix!

Hey my god well done, and I had KISS on in the shop tonight, it was actually playing good tunes aswell. Do I have to stay up to hear this, or will we be able to hear it afterwards somehow?

Well done sir but as an audio devourer can I ask naively how do I listen to this mix of yours? :)

It'll be broadcast on Kiss FM on sunday/monday at 0000hrs. Then it can be streamed again via their website for the next 7 days. Ill probably up it after that too

I'm quite pleased, given my "job" i cant take local gigs, so thought this would be a good way to get some gigs slightly further afield, and it's nice bragging rights on demo CD's!

I had KISS on in the shop tonight, it was actually playing good tunes aswell.

At the weekends, i now prefer it to Radio 1. The specialist shows on it are very good and varied too.

  6. equipment is a pain. I use Serato and i prefer to use Technics 1200's to control everything with. As soon as i walk into a booth and i dont see them, i do start to panic. I have used the control CD's, but i dont like them. Not so long ago i used the internal mode on Serato cos i just didnt want to use CDJ's (i've always found them too sensitive and the behave differently to Technics which is what i know and love, also with Technics, i can "ride" the pitch, on CDJ's due to the sensitivity this is almost impossible for me to do because of the pitch "steps"). This is whats pre empting me to get a midi controller. Thankfully, theres still plenty of Technics around, the last place that didnt have them was a bar in cambridge about a year or so ago.

Using Serato isnt that much of a pain anymore, in the last year i dont think i havnt been to a dj booth that hasnt had the soundcard already installed so all i have to do is plug the laptop in, so thats nice.

I've also played nights where im the only house dj and others have been drum and bass and dubstep. After 3 hours of this, the house was a welcome change and people loved it, so dont be afraid of being different.

Ive been there though when you know you've played shit. It happens, it hits you hard but just have to get on with and learn where you went wrong.

  7. i remember entering a dj cntext one time (2002 i think) and the booth was so small, you had to move the monitor to fit more than one person in it. Anyway, the promoter came in the booth to use the mic and left, he moved the monitor pointing outward. I didnt realise this and wondered why i found it hard to mix, it wasnt until the last record when a friend pointed it out to me...where did i finish? 3rd!

  8. what happened at your last gig? I've played howlers before, dont worry about it, its how you learn.

To other dj's on this forum, have you ever played a howler and considered giving up? I know i've done it before. I remember one time in 2006 i played a, shall we say, more commercial Armand Van Helden track to a floor that wanted crunchy electro house. Needless to say i cleared the floor and it took about 15 minutes to get people back. It was the first time it had happened to me and quite a shock...i didnt think i'd get asked back after that, but i did! I also remember that night i was missing cue points everywhere etc, i think its cos it was one of my first gigs again after a while off and i was so nervous.

    So whats your biggest clanger?

  9. My two cents...... I agree with neuro's sentiment. I think this site should be a showcase for the best of Jules. That for me sadly, does not include his recent stuff. In fact it pains me hearing him play those embarrassing jingles and bootlegs now, when I know how good he used to be. Also, if it takes a lot of the mods time and energy setting up the podcasts that meant some classic sets from years ago being put on the backburner or neglected, then I'd be against it. Sorry No2 fan. That's just me though.

+1. Jules hasnt really progressed for the last 4 years or so now i dont think. The only podcast i listen to are the Zinc "Crack House" mixes on Soundcloud (he is so good, technically incredible). Jules is just playing rehashes of tracks that are 10 years old. Times change and so do people i suppose, but i just dont think Jules is relevant anymore. The site should be for sets from 1998-2002 at the latest.
