  1. It's pretty cool that he's doing that kind of thing - to me it makes sense. Jules obviously wants to remain relevant and push his current sound - this way we get the old (\o/) and the new (/o\) with, hopefully, some real gems thrown in
  2. Oakie was chronic up until about a year ago when it all seems to have clicked back into place - so he deserved the jip!
  3. Nothing yet - Moguai is on this week (another DJ who was once good and got nowhere and has now sold out and is huge) so the time is running out. I would have thought Jules may mention it but, in his latest diary report, there is nothing at all. Unless they are making it a big surprise I doubt it will happen
  4. His show doesn't finish until the end of this month
  5. You can listen to a vast, vast, vast (VAST!) amount of music, for free if you use the regular service, without the need for radio presenters diatribe. If I work from home, which I sometimes do, or if I'm hanging at the house and want music on I will always use spotify over putting the radio on. I've created myself a gigantic shuffle playlist with hundreds of my favourite albums (plus some new stuff I want to check out) and it is magnificent. The basic account gives you ten hours of music free per week - with ads interspersed every few songs. The premium account gives you unlimited music with zero ads!
  6. Spotify renders Radio 1 completely pointless anyway! \o/
  7. I enjoyed it (the rant that is)
  8. How does Nick Grimshaw keep his slot? The guy is a massive tool and knows f*** all about, well, anything! That annoying bird off of T4 Jameela Jamil has a show too - she's terrible!
  9. Fair play to Jordan - and at least with the INDJWT he can probably play whatever he likes, as opposed to the crippling "scheduling" bollocks that R1 enforces upon it's primetime DJs. He's a cracking DJ - hope he translates well to radio - and it's great that someone at R1 seems to have a handle on the scene
  10. That does look pretty cool - have heard rumours about them doing this for a while, glad it's finally coming to fruition. April 8th is my brother's birthday (and also I think Easter Sunday - hence the choice of date) so I doubt I can make it
  11. Schulz started using it as a hashtag on twitter for some reason. Another trance DJ trying to be random and funny but just sounding incredibly gay
  12. Strange comment from Markus - given that all of his big tracks of late are the vocal ones and some of his breakdowns are verging on the ridiculous. He needs to get back to what made him so big in the first place instead of being an Armin-lite
  13. To be fair to John he has done something about it though! His J00f Editions night tours relentlessly and promotes the kind of DJs and music which he feels that the scene lacks. His label has also signed a lot of unknowns and given them a huge push - again something which he feels is lacking from other avenues. Askew is a legend imo - his forthrighteousness is refreshing and he often reveals a side to the "industry" that we don't ever get to see. He tells it like is is and is not scared of offending people - whereas a lot of other DJs keep quiet to retain their "marketability" and no harm their careers
  14. Surprised to hear J00F saying that - one can level many things at Jules over the last few years but I always thought he was a magnificent presenter. John does spout off an awful lot though so I wouldn't rule it out
  15. Could be onto something there - as with anything the less time you dedicate to it then the more results begin to suffer. Jules seemed to take the standpoint of "it sells and people love it" an awful lot over the past few years (of decline), which, to me (and I am probably reading too much into this) suggested maybe he was more concerned with the task of staying relevant and viable in such a competitive, increasingly commerically focused, market - as opposed to just doing his thing and playing what he loved?
  16. This news seems to have alerted a boatload of new members too. The nostalgia is obviously in high demand!
  17. Yeah - pretty sure he said he had been re-training in order to qualify. Unless he is simply working in "Entertainment Law" in some other role?
  18. Welcome along - if it's a Jules set then it will be in the archives somewhere (most likely)
  19. The new schedule kicks in from April 2nd I believe - so his final show will be in March
  20. Think Matt's just a (if there is such a word) standard lawyer, whereas Jules will specialise in the entertainment side of things - don't forsee his DJing being as much of an obstruction with that in mind
  21. Surely Tongy will be allowed to decide when he leaves? The guy has done more for specialist music on R1 than virtually anyone else (John Peel excluded along with a select few others). Annie Mac cannot hold a candle to him - her show kind of opitimises why we feel so disinterested with R1's playlist - i.e. it's utter bollocks.
  22. He definitely deserves an Essential Mix as a farewell - would be awesome if he did a series of farewell shows too (as opposed to just one) to really celebrate what has been a phenomenally successful radio career
  23. I imagine with the vast wealth he must have acrued that financially he will be able to do as he pleases - plus with his contact list he'll be a smash as a lawyer. Hopefully he carries on DJing for his own ends, rather than becomming a Dave Pearce-style Luminar regular. It'd be great to hear him making a concerted effort to go more underground again - I still think he could unearth some great music without the needless R1 worries of linking various shows and pandering to casual listeners
  24. Just read about this on facebook - shocked that they have axed him (but maybe not totally surprised). I have to say that while I am a little sad I got tired of the show a while back - but I'd still prefer it to bloody dubstep!
