  2. All the best with this dude, I genuinely hope it all works out. It's so tough with new nights, there needs to be a balance between getting someone that you're into & that is popular within the scene and then bridging that gap to the mainstream guys n gals who will attend your night. I'm not sure Mat Zo has the necessary pull (relative to his likely fee) to be value for money but I guess he has had R1 airplay of late and the Essential Mix will have boosted his profile. Knowing the catchment crowd will be invaluable in making your decision

  4. Cheers Chrissie - hopefully it'll be to your tastes!
  5. Having recently concluded my show/podcast The Progressive Showcase after 7 long years and exactly 200 shows I figured I'd attempt to keep some kind of handle on DJing by just randomly posting promo mixes here, there and everywhere. Almost certainly not to everyone's (who am I kidding, anyone's) taste I present sixty minutes of techno for delectation. Enjoy! 6. Just a quick update re the future of the show seeing as I haven't put out a new edition for over 3 months! I've taken the decision to (temporarily at least) draw The Progressive Showcase to a conclusion. I've loved presenting and sharing the show since it began way back in 2006 but, quite simply, I cannot find the time any longer (owing to a career change and other personal circumstances) to seek out new music every week, let alone burn CDs, source new tracks and compile the shows. Finishing on Episode 200 and on the show's 7th Birthday seems a nice symmetrical occasion to bring down the curtain on things & I am truly thankful to everyone who has listened to, downloaded, streamed, guest mixed, or contributed to the show in any way over the course of the 200 episodes. Though I haven't even switched on my decks/mixer since I recorded the last show in early February I am loathed to cease DJing altogether and will endeavour to get some kind of promo mix series going now that the show has finished. Thanks again!
  7. Honestly couldn't care less - the original track is woeful anyway. But what does annoy me is Will.I.Am saying things like "I know the dance music scene and deserve credit for getting it played on radio" (sic) I could really vent but it's Sunday and I'm in a good mood, but yeh, basically the guy is a dilluded raper of music & needs to f*** off as soon as possible
  8. Have to say I'm more akin to what Gary says - this really does nothing for me. Everything is so formulaic right now, this could be any other track out there at the moment, except for it has that ethereal breakdown strategically cut & pasted into the middle. Rank1 vs Dutch Forces mix please!
  9. I don't think Jules played the Code night. Pretty sure it was Ferry & Armin. The Crasher night was a belter though
  10. Definitely love White Noise - such variety and always so well mixed
  11. Been having a reminisce this evening with some old Godskitchen mates on FB & I dug this one out - criminally under-rated (and a little copycat ish) but the synth lines are just so epic!
  12. As I'm sure it is known I've really not been a fan of what Mat has been doing musically over the past few years and I really generally dislike megamix style sets but I have to hand it to him in that he understands what the Essential Mix is about and he went out of his way to craft something personal and utterly unique. It makes a huge change to see someone put some actual effort in! Half the producers (no longer DJs I'm afraid) who are given this prestigious honour these days just stick 20-odd tracks together in any order and don't differentiate at all from one of the myriad of online radio shows one could download so hats off to Mat!
  13. Robert Nickson productions start & end with "Spiral" - what a truly gorgeous piece of music!
  14. I rarely listen but yes that is the plan! I hate how R1 still insist on these crossovers for their DJs
  15. Had to laugh at that - so true though
  16. Welcome aboard, I echo Quadder's statement - you're spoilt for choice here
  17. Tom Bailey presents... The Progressive Showcase Episode 200! - Extended Special Edition Saturday February 23rd 2013 The Progressive Showcase Celebrates 200 Episodes & our 7th Birthday! This week's edition is a very special one as we hit our 200th broadcast & simultaneously celebrate the show's 7th birthday! Since beginning way back in February 2006 an awful lot has changed (from the show's sound, format, popularity and our hosting arrangements) but we have always strived to deliver exciting and forward thinking dance music with a zero compromise attitude and a fresh approach - no jingles, no gimmicks, just straight up, uninterrupted music! To celebrate this momentous occasion we had to do something a little extraordinary so I present to you an exclusive, extended three hours & 15mins set! Over the course of the set, recorded live as always, you'll hear new music from favourites Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, Mikael Jonasson + more as well as some all time classics from X-Press 2, Robert Babicz & more! Finally a massive thank you to every one who has contributed over the years & to you guys for listening! Enjoy the show! This episode will also coincide with the 7th Anniversary of the show and, as such, I feel we need to mark the occasion with something of a bang! I've not settled on what exactly I will be doing for the show (any suggestions are welcome too by the way) but I am leaning towards an extended set, possibly recorded live if I can pull a few strings, with a barrage of brand new music - as well as the odd timeless classic from the Showcase vaults! Keep em peeled!
