  1. Also, not sure how powerful your laptop is, but it could be trying to play "catch up" all the time if its not too powerful. My laptop has a 3.1Ghz dual-core processor and 4GB ram - runs fine! When running Traktor, bring up the task manager and check your RAM and processor usage. If your processor is continually running in the 90%'s, or the RAM is struggling, then you'll either need to upgrade your laptop, or strip down all the crap that you don't need from Traktor - by default, it seems to install drivers for all of the 'standard' controllers, plus generic multi-genre loops that nobody should ever use. Get rid of all that crap and that should help.
  2. I'm running Traktor with a cheapo, basic, Behringer controller. I had the same issues as above for a few weeks - and then found that the eventual cure was to: 1. Make sure any hardware is disabled (such as Wi:Fi). It also seems to dislike two of my three memory sticks - so now I play ALL music from the hard drive. 2. I bought a 2nd hard drive solely for Traktor use. It simply has Windows 7 64-bit, and the Traktor software. No other software or drivers whatsoever. Problem solved. It just means I have to swap hard drives for normal use and Traktor use - but it's worth it because Traktor runs perfectly now.
  3. Mark Leanings - Dropshot (JOC's Playma Edit) Ruff Driverz - Dreaming (Neal Scarborough Rework) David Moleon - Tinitu Daniel Portman - Rock The Key Marc Sims - Forbidden City Chase & Status - Blind Faith (Bryan Kearney Filth Treatment) Chris Harvey - In Dreams With Betty Darren Porter - Culture Wippenburg - UR (John O'Callaghan's Urrrr Rework) John O'Callaghan - Psychic Sensor (Indecent Noise Remix) John Askew - Bastard
  4. Da Boss Track - how on earth did I not mention that? Probably in the top 3 of my favourites of all the tunes that Jules has played over the years!
  5. Who signed it mate? Looks like Jules, Eddie, Piet and Benno from Rank 1 and Des Mitchell?
  6. I'll give him another year. Radio 1 want younger presenters, and its clear that dance music isn't that important to them any more. They've already tampered with his show times twice in recent years - so they've proven that they're not afraid to make changes to their most successful shows. I reckon, if they hadn't already been getting rid of as many DJs as they are, he'd have gone this year. I think he's only there now to help steady the ship for a year, and so that Radio 1 can hit back at critics that are saying Radio 1 are trying to go too 'urban' by saying "well we do still have Pete Tong in place to prove that we still want to represent dance music".
  7. If you're talking about had Radio 1 opted for another Trance/dance DJ rather than a Dubstep, then, in all honestly, I don't think there would have been another ready-made replacement. The only DJ that really ever had a chance, due to him playing "across the board" rather than one specific style, was Eddie Halliwell - but he never really sounded too comfortable on the radio. He sounded a bit too "robotic" and scripted rather than naturally flowing. The other British Trance DJs that covered Trance (Hardwick, O'Bir, etc) weren't as diverse as Jules and Eddie - so there would have been very little else on offer other than a 2 hour show of uplifting/melodic Trance. If we're going old-school and talking about who we would have liked to have seen on Radio 1 years ago, then i'd say John Kelly. Very similar in style to Jules musically back in his day, and definately a personality (although perhaps a little too strong for radio at times ) Alternatively, Brandon Block was always very good on Kiss, and could have easily moved to Radio 1 and fit right in back in his day. Riley and Durrant were always really good on Galaxy too - i'm surprised they never moved to Kiss, Capital or Radio 1 at some point. Their show was a bit wasted on Galaxy.
  8. I agree. I doubt that Jules would be allowed to play all of those "Jules tunes" over a series of shows - and he'd never be able to play everything that we've suggested here in one show, but the chances of him being granted an Essential Mix (particularly if the rumours are true), I would imagine, are quite strong (I'm fairly sure that Danny Rampling and Fergie were granted 'finales', so it would be unfair for Jules not to have one with his contribution on Radio 1 being much greater that theirs). This thread might just remind Jules of some of those tunes he'd forgotten about over the years (particularly the less obvious tunes), or give him the opportunity to source them if he no longer has them on vinyl and never converted them to digital format. I'm sure we all forget tunes that we own - so with Jules's collection being huge in comparison to any of ours, a few reminders might just make him think "wow, I forgot about that. I played it for weeks back in 1999 - I must play that during my Essential Mix"
  9. I suspect you're right - although I would imagine that the 'low profile exit' will be more down to Radio 1 rather than Jules. Jules would probably love to end by playing some of his career favourites - but probably won't be allowed to because of all this "In New Music We Trust" music policy crap Radio 1 keep trying to ram down our throats.
  10. I think you posted that in the wrong thread mate
  11. Another album 'finale' on the way perhaps?
  12. Plummet - Damaged! Good suggestion - thats definately a Jules 'anthem'. I'm gonna throw Twice As Nice - Overture in too. Jules played that a lot around 1999. The interesting thing about this thread is that nobody has mentioned a tune from the past 2-3 years. That just highlights that Jules hasn't played anything that really stands out for a while now.
  13. Thats a good idea actually Jason! I might just do that.
  14. Oh, two more to add which were 'Jules tunes'. Minimalistix - Close Cover Safri Duo - Played-A-Live
  15. I used to like it, but it was unsigned for ages and Jules said it was that good, he'd play it on the show every week until a label signed it. He stuck to his word and played it for something like 12 weeks. By which time, i'd got bored of it
  16. If so, what? I have these that once belonged to Jules: His 12" acetate of Hi-Gate - "Are You The Shephard?" which dates back to when Jules's was 'road testing' tunes for the "Split "Personality album . On the reverse is another tune - which, if my memory serves me correctly, is 'Notre Dame'. I also have Jules's old one-sided 12" acetate of Dallas Allstars - Helium. This is now stored safely in my shed because it stinks - and its almost worn out too (acetate only lasts for about 30 plays and then its scrap. It also smells quite strongly too). I also have Jules's old Josh Wink vs Alanis Morrisette - 'Higher State of Irony' (White Label) on 7" acetate that he used around 8 years ago when Radio 1 did the live DJ battles for charity (he also played in on his Saturday show for about 4 weeks). I think Jules was drawn against Fatboy Slim - and he played a set full of self-produced novelty bootlegs for a laugh. This was one of them. As far as i'm aware, Jules only had one copy made. Unfortunately, this is now well and truly knackered and beyond playable and probably not even worth keeping. I also have another vinyl record that used to belong to Jules. It was filtered through by his filterer, who, I would imagine, due to the record being from 2002, would more than likely have been Simon Patterson - but Jules didn't like it, and rejected it. It was an untitled white label in a plain, white paper sleeve, and produced by Pedro Del Mar and DJ Shah. On the sleeve was a message saying "Dear Jules, here is the latest tune by myself and Roger Shah. There are only 3 copies in the world - and we have given it to you first for a possible exclusive play on your show. We hope you like it. Pedro Del Mar & DJ Shah." Needless to say. The tune was never played by Jules (or any other DJ), was never released, and to this day, probably still remains untitled. It wasn't a bad tune - just very unorthodox in style (lots of weird 8 bars here and 12 bars there, making it almost impossible to mix). So thats about all. Tell us what you've got
  17. Eaxctly as it says on the tin. With Jules moving retiring from Radio 1, plus having a 2nd job as a lawyer, it's probably likely that the productions will stop/be reduced too - so which of Jules's productions are your favourites? (Solo projects or collaborations welcome) Original mixes only though - not other artists remixes of Jules tunes (ie, The Green Martian remix of The Oboe Song is not allowed because, well, its by Green Martian): Mine are, In this order: 1. Hi-Gate - Gonna Work It Out 2. Yomanda - On The Level 3. Hi-Gate - D-Tune (Earplugs) 4. Hi-Gate - Pitchin' 5. Saxuality 6. Hurricane 7. Caned & Unable 8. VPL - In The Park 9. Judge Jules - Requiem For Rascals Hated: Nappy Hardcore - The Laugh Hi-Gate - Voices
  18. I agree! More i've just thought of: Das Klangwerk - Kiss My Ass Silverback - Monkey Lover (Awful tune - but one of those typical trademark Jules tunes) Blaze - My Beat Mario Piu - The Vision (Jules hammered this for ages during his Friday night shows)
  19. Reysan Khan - Sh Du Khan (another one of 'those' wacky tunes that only Jules would play) DJ Gert - Give Me Some More Ramirez - Hablando (Push remix) David Forbes - Questions Must be Asked (Kayestone Remix) PPK - Resurection. PPK wasn't everyone's cup of tea - but Jules caned it for months over two stints - the first when it was unsigned, the second when Oakie signed it to Perfecto.
  20. Good call on Para Mi! I'll also throw these in: V3 - Zulu Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation. (Jules supported this quite heavily round about the time I started listening to him) Tomba Vira - The Sound Of: Oh Yeah (Oliver Klein remix) Da Hool - Eichelruck Storm - Time To Burn

    Julesisms

I wonder if, during Jules's last show, we're likely to hear "Like Alan Sugars apprentices, i've been fired". :ermm: I'll get my coat! :ninja:
  22. It'll be interesting to see whether Jules can keep the DJ'ing going for another 5 years. Matt Hardwick also became a lawyer about 15 months ago, and tried to combine that role alongside being a DJ too - but, ultimately, had to quit DJ'ing. One of the reasons Matt gave was simply that the law firm felt that the DJ'ing/clubbing industry didn't portray a very good image for a lawyer. With no disrespect to Matt Hardwick, but Jules is, for obvious reasons, going to attract far more media/public attention - and that could be publicity that the law firm don't want their name associated with. Unless i'm mistaken, I'm also fairly sure that Jules is joining the saw law firm that Matt Hardwick is with (if so, their works Christmas parties are going to be the best in the UK for sure!). I guess the main difference between them is that, I suspect, Jules will be advising new entertainment companies of laws and regulations they need to follow - and things like that, rather than representing individuals. Whereas, from the little i've read, I think that Matt Hardwick is more to do with 'general law' and dealing with the public.
  23. Its a shame A&B can't announce their retirement too.
  24. I really hope Jules would see it as being granted a farewell send off rather than treating it as a standard Essential Mix - and therefore play a "best of" mix rather than a showcase mix. I'd definately tune in for a 'best of' mix - but I wouldn't bother if he just treated it as a normal set.
