  1. only one post needed so should be able to download mate. Enjoy!
  2. That sounds cool Briggsy. I'd love to hear some new techno stuff I just don't know where to get hold of it. I still play trance as my main style but I never get it from Beatport. It might just be me but I think beatport is huge for house/electro but not so much trance. Audiojelly is more trance focussed as you can tell by the top 10 on the homepage always being trance. I tend to look there first, then trackitdown and juno. possibly there would be slightly better tunes on those site's charts but I know there is alot of crap out there as well.
  3. I was only making a point earlier that personally it was interesting that the calculator came up with being £200 better off. I was just trying to be positive. Cheese, I wasn't inferring that you claim benefits. It was an observation that in general it seems to be all the benefits and tax relief stuff that is being cut. Since I personally receive none of these then thats why this whole situation is not affecting me as much as some. I know that you and your partner both work hard and can totally understand that supporting a family at the moment would be a struggle. I'm sure lots of people are in that situation and I know it's not easy for many people. I was really just making the observation that if you are single and don't have kids to worry about, you potentially wont feel the crunch as much.
  4. Nice ID Tom, would have spotted that as I love both tracks but prefer Utah Saints. Just havn't listened to this set for ages. I think I need to by the look of the tracklist. I seem to remember I liked the Durham set the best at the time
  5. I'll admit, it doesn't look great for those who currently claim benefits (have only looked at a glance). I used the BBC budget calculator thingy and personally it reckons I'll be about £200 better off as a result of the budget. This is basically because I am single and earn below the threshold for higher tax rate.
  6. I know it's such a shame hey. It is cool to finally be able to get my hands on some of these tunes now though.
  7. That Sankey's set was amazing. I had it on the walkman all the time at school.
  8. Yeah I know it was more expensive but still. If anyone really wants a copy its a good opportunity. Never seen it for sale before these 2 came up. Only about 7 discogs members own it or so.
  9. Wanted to give this a mention but couldn't find a clip online so I uploaded it myself! Who remembers this one? Jules played a few times at the tail end of 2000.
  10. Yeah very true Tom. I'm not saying it's ideal at all.
  11. Mate this tune is huuuuuuuge. Loved this sound too - think I'm gonna do a techy style mix from this era soon.
  12. That lineup does look kinda good. Finally some up and comings getting big event booking. Would be interested to see Ben Gold and W&W, 2 big favourite producers of mine lately. Never seen either of them DJ.
  13. I'm not better off now than I was a year ago. I also doubt the situation would be much different if Labour were still in power. Not saying it would be worse either, I don't really know. I agree with others though that they were the ones in power over the last decade or so over which the country has gone to pot really so for me it was time to give someone else a chance. The thing is I don't look at it thinking why aren't I better off under the new government? Why should we always think we should be better off? We are in a crap situation that needs to be dealt with so I am prepared for things to be tough for a few years. I don't see the point in letting it get me down because its inevitable and there is nothing I can do to change it so I accept it and get on with life. Hopefully things will improve a few years down the line but who knows. The problem is most governments are all the same - they promise things they can't actually stick to so it's very hard to know who to vote for really.
  14. Very much like that thought Simcut and I could easily come up with lots of ideas for that. I've recently been buying up more old bits off Discogs. It's a good point that although personally the tunes that were big for me in that era are not forgotten, there must be a fair number of younger members on here now that may not remember those tunes. Perhaps you could get involved with suggestions too mate. You could certainly educate me on some unknown lost gems and already have done in the past.
  15. Nice to see this getting another wave of interest. Seems a few people missed it first time around so thanks Aza for drawing attention to it again. I really enjoyed this little project and hope I've managed to do the tunes justice here.
  16. I'm with Briggsy on VAT as well. The increase is really only very small for day to day purchases. I guess Tom makes a good point though about its effect on fuel. The knock on effect of fuel price increase due to VAT is that food which should be VAT exempt ends up costing more because of increased transport costs etc. So I guess the total difference the extra 2.5% makes could be much more complex than simply another 2.5% on goods. That said I still don't see it having a huge impact on what people can afford. We may all have to tighten the belt a bit to get by but I don't think we'll starve. For me I have just cut back on the number of visits to the pub I make. I can easily spend £20 when I just pop in for a couple of drinks with 2 or 3 mates. Cut out one of those trips a month and you've nearly saved Briggsy's £25 on £1000 worth of purchases and I certainly dont make that amount of purchases a month. Just a simple example but though times are tough, life does go on. I do agree that the defecit needs sorting so I can't really complain if the government deal with it by making cuts or increasing taxes as that's what I'm expecting them to do in this situation. The fact that the recent budget wasn't full of harsh cuts and tax rises was a nice surprise. I guess I tend to expect the worst and therefore end up generally feeling better about the results even when they still aren't amazing. We can't expect the massive debt the country is in to ever decrease if there aren't cuts and taxes. It's just part of life and I'm afraid I don't see it getting much better or really any other options.
  17. yeah then goes to Fridge - Angel I think. That was a big favourite CD of mine too I used to play it on minidisc all the time on the school bus. It's odd how you look for a gem like this for ages and can't find a copy for sale anywhere then suddenly 2 come along at once. It came today and is in near mint condition to be fair.
  18. I was quite pleasantly surprised with the budget as well. I was imagining it could have been much worse.
  19. Snapped this up the other day on Discogs for only £4.00 plus postage. There's one more copy for sale if anyone's interested. Pretty rare white label this which featured on The Clubber's Guide to 2000 mixed by Jules.
  20. Was it Nero that did the remix of the streets - blinded by the lights? I remember hearing that on Annie Mac and actually quite liking it
  21. Yeah I cant say I know much more by them but I knew people who were into dubstep before it got really popular and I'm sure they used to mention Nero as being really good.
  22. I know what people mean with getting frustrated with Jules around this period. The thing is I actually saw him play live a few times that year and each time he played great sets. There was plenty of good stuff about and when given free reign in a club Jules was still smashing it out and pretty much all the tunes were good. However he played a whole load of housey material on the radio because of the whole warmup time slot he had on a Saturday. This was my main gripe with the demise of the Friday show as he always played much truer to his club sound in that slot. At this time I found it hard to access decent tunes because although Jules was playing them in the clubs he wasn't so much on radio. He also used to talk alot in his diary around that time about playing at least one house set booking per month in order to road test tunes for use in his R1 show. Was very frustrating indeed.
  23. Dubstep is just the current craze. It's never good when an underground sound crosses over to mainstream and makes the charts and radio 1 playlists etc. That always seems to have a negative effect on the music coming out of the scene eventually. I'm sure some of the underground dubstep of a couple of years ago could have likely been good and a refreshing sound. All the stuff I've ever heard though has been the crossover stuff since Im not into the scene and I've not liked any of the commercial stuff at all. That Nero track they play on radio 1 all the time is dire for example. I guess trance had it's hay day of being big in the charts too but there weren't that many tunes that went big which I really liked. I think the underground scene kept producing quality stuff which was good. Some tracks were certainly ruined by being overplayed though like Darude - Sandstorm to name just one. Still a good tune but it was so overplayed at the time
  24. Just proving how the trance scene can fluctuate week to week, I bought a fair number of new tunes this week all of which I think are very good. I can actually see myself playing them a fair bit. In a month's time it could just as easily be the opposite situation though.
  25. Yeah I saw it too... not checked it out but I doubt I'll bother. If anything it reminds me that I dont have the original and should probably track down a copy off Discogs... another one that slipped through the net for me first time around
