Yes thats the one Quadrant. As a radio listener I found that whole incident quite cool at the time. It really made you know it was live and hey these things must have happened to alot of DJ's when they all used vinyl. It's quite a comforting reminder that Jules used vinyl and could seriously pull off a mix as well. He recovers well by playing the whole breakdown again.

Yeah I did quite like this actually. Was also thinking the shop he goes into looks really familiar from the outside.. Looks just like a shop I used to go to in Soho. Second hand record shops are great but few and far between these days

I might check this out on listen again. I'm sure there are lots of jingles thrown in for the radio but shockingly Fuzzy, Jules actually plays that "Somebody Scream" sample all the way through his live sets these days as standard!

I use "Roxio Easy Media Creator" as it came free on my PC. It has always worked fine. Windows media player should also work though as is free.

So you are having problems with playing CD-R's with normal audio on and also with MP3 Files? What program do you use at the moment to burn CDs? That could be the problem or it could be the type of disc. Have you tried another type of disc?

Great stuff Quadders. I just had to check my release of Angel to see if this was on my copy too and it is. I never even realised! I love discovering great B sides while going through my collection some times. This would make a cool start to a set.

No worries Fuzzy. I'm the same with being busy at times. I've had a good discussion with Simcut tonight and am currently working through the wav files, converting them to MP3. I have started the encoding from scratch, going back to the original wavs and first normalizing them before encoding using Razorlame. I have found so far that most of the files come out just a few MB's smaller when encoding with Razorlame rather than Adobe Audition so I may be able to upload most of these afterall as long as they come in under 128MB. I'll keep you posted if I need to send any to you. In the mean time expect to see these being uploaded to the archives over the next week or so I hope. I'll try and get one uploaded each day and hopefully I'll get into a rhythm and start getting through these a bit quicker.

Annoyingly most of them come in at 130MB... just over the limit

Oooo nice. Right I now have about 20 shows ready to upload. What's the best way to do that Neuro or Fuzzy? They are mostly 192 kbps MP3 files so around 150MB each I think. Should I just begin submitting them to the audio archive in the usual way?

Mate I realy enjoyed the first mix here. Some great stuff in there I'd never heard. Will be getting this one on the iPod for the car for sure. I'll check out the other mix soon as well hopefully.

Hi Quadders. I have an iPod nano and to be fair have never owned any other MP3 player for comparison so I can really only speak about that product. I've never had any problems with the nano and many of the issues raised in that article have been resolved since the article is from 2006. The guy in the article is making a number of points: 1. iPods scratch easily and it seems at the time of the article you couldn't get cases for them until some time after release. The issue of scratching the screens and casing of the iPod is still a problem in the same way as mobile phones and many other devices. You would be best advised to get a case for it to protect it and these are readily available in many types and styles these days for all models of nano. 2. Digital Rights Management (DRM). This is to with copyright protection placed on songs purchased from iTunes - the software you use to transfer music and other content to your iPod. iTunes is a music library which you can use to rip CDs you already own to the library and then transfer them to an iPod or just listen to tracks on your computer. It also has a digital music store - iTunes store which is a convenient way of purchasing music straight into the library and onto iPod. Basically the purchased tracks used to be very restricted by this thing called DRM. You couldn't use anything but iTunes to burn CDs, you couldn't use any other software to play the files and couldn't play the tracks in any other MP3 player because the tracks are not downloaded as MP3's as standard. This has been changed now. You can easily convert purchased music from Apple's AAC format into MP3 to allow use with devices other than iPods. Also you can burn purchased tracks to CD for use in CD players etc so you are far less restricted now with what you can do with your purchased music. 3. He is trying to say iPods are expensive and then they try to make money from you with the iTunes store etc. That might be true to an extent but actually unless you download music illegally from file share sites, you will always have paid for music. It's obvious people will still have to spend more money to obtain new music... so I don't see his point there really. iTunes store is no more expensive than buying music on CD. My personal view is that my nano has been a very useful device and has been reliable, easy to use etc. I would recommend it any day but do get some other views of other products. I didn't I just jumped in to the iPod world but have not regretted it personally. I've been using iTunes store for most music except trance for DJing for the last 3-4 years. No real complaints except beware the quality is not as good as CD even though it claims to be. If you really like something by an artist which is well produced and mixed - ie not heavily compressed by intention then it still makes sense to buy the CD and then rip it because the CD will sound better than the digital version on iTunes. Hope that helps.
