  1. I can totally understand having way more important things to do. I sometimes go months without backing up or organising anything when life gets busy in the way it does for so many of us. It's when I get a bit of down time and just think - I should really back up my MP3's - and suddenly once I start a task of organising folders I can't stop until it is all done to the same format - I think I do have a bit of OCD sometimes about things like that. Other times I can be quite messy and unorganised so at least I'm not OCD all the time! In a sense it doesn't really matter that much having all that info there but information does get lost in a sense if you dont put it there. For example my knowledge of Artist - Title - Label was pretty good for anything I owned on Vinyl - I could tell you the label without looking because I'd looked at the detail on the cover many times when getting it out to play. Now we go through MP3's so quickly, many of which are forgotten as tracks very quickly anyway. I find that when I do a mix of tracks I've bought over the last couple of months I remember very few of the details - often just the name of the track or the artist but very often I have no idea of label unless it's one of the major ones because we just dont look at that info when we buy tracks these days. If I produce a detailed tracklist I find myself having to google tracks to find the label info retrospectively because the information is not contained in the purchased item - just a computer file. It has taken that collector's attention to detail away from music buying. But this information can be stored in the purchased files through the ID3 tag - most of the time it wont be visible but it can at least be looked up if needed. I guess that's some justification but I have got lazy - I don't care as much as I used to what label a track is on and many of my files won't contain that information. It's kinda sad but as you say Cheese, most of the time there just isn't enough time in the day to justify sitting there adding this information.
  2. It's interesting to see how everyone organises their MP3s.. I tend to use iTunes for all non dance music - ie everything except the full length mixable music I buy. I like to be able to listen to the iTunes library on random without hundreds of full length 8 min tracks coming on with full intros etc. The iTunes music folder is therefore pretty much left as it is - I never open it in explorer but all the iTunes purchases are automatically put in there in folders. I have a separate music folder for all of my full length dance music. This is broken into sub folders by genre - house, trance, hardcore etc. Inside each of these folders there are more sub folders broken into year of release and each year contains a folder for each month. Each month I download new music into my default downloads folder and then move the files into the current month's folder in the correct genre. I keep the folder structure fairly well organised but I am not so good at sorting all the ID3 tags. It's easy to get lazy since Traktor reads the artist and title information from the file's ID3 Tag and displays them correctly in Traktor, but most of the file names are a complete mess when you download the files from an MP3 store and I rarely get around to changing them. I used to use a program called "ID3-Tagit3" to amend filenames. It can quickly rename multiple files into your desired structure from existing tags in the file.

  4. I agree with all you've said there Briggsy although I didn't get my hopes up to be honest. I enjoyed listening live none-the-less. It was good hearing some of the earlier tracks coming in during the mix - my ears pricked up when I heard 'Can't keep me silent' mixing in because I didn't expect to hear that track to be fair. Some others were fairly obvious while others still were really not expected. I was convinced 2006 had to be either Team SR - 'Leaving London' or Fabio Stein's 'Tran 4' since he played both tracks about 20 weeks running that year. Was also surprised not to hear 'Laid Bare' although I guess that would have been a bit like blowing his own trumpet (pun intended). The 2009 choice was weird as well - 'See the sun' - I'm sure there were loads of other tracks he supported much more than that one that year. Anyway, I think we all have our ideal tracklists or dream lists in mind for what we'd have liked to have heard but I dont think it was ever going to happen. I really think he should have done the last show live and it would have been nice to have him pop in during Pete's show or something - to have made more out of his last night would have been good.
  5. Thanks guys. Really glad a lot of you have downloaded this one. Appreciate the kind feedback.
  6. I use Adobe Audition for audio editing. It's much better than Audacity but not free. If its just a simple loop you need doing I dont mind having a go at it. Getting the loop point exact is all about zooming right in to the waveform to pin point that 'beat'. In audition once you have found this exact part of the wave by zooming right in, you can set a cue marker. Zoom back out and do the same for your end point of the loop. That will give you 2 markers. You can then highlight the area between the point and it will snap to the markers you have set. Then copy, and paste the section as many times as you need. It is tricky to get it sounding really smooth. It depends on the song. If it has a clean and obvious start and end point of the chorus, it will be possible to make it seamless. The key is the start of the section needs to be the same as the end musically. In house or trance tracks this is usually easy to find since tracks are built in sections of repeating loops generally. So it is not hard to match a start and end point of say a 4 bar section and create a seamless loop. Not sure if any of this is helpful but feel free to PM me if you need any help or wanna send the file over for me to have a look.
  7. Really enjoyed this mate. Listened today as my soundtrack to a 16 mile bike ride. Was just what I needed. Thanks

  15. The Mat Zo Remix is better than the original imo. I think it works very well.
  16. know what ya mean Jason... Got the Additive release too and the intro is better
  17. Nice version but cant beat the original for me - the non vocal one that was on the promos. Vocal was added for the major release I think

    DJ'ING

Yeah it comes in phases for me. I've been mixing for 13 years now and I've gone through whole periods of really not being able to get into the mixing. It comes back though. I find it easier these days with Traktor to leave it a few weeks and then pick up where I left off. Sometimes having a break can have the opposite effect for me because when I finally get back on the decks for a mix I enjoy it so much more.
