  1. Hi All, Here's my little contribution to the year mix meley going on on the board this week. It's great to see everyone's take on the year and nice to see we havn't all gone for the same tunes... although some of the biggies have made into most of them. Anyway I decided to make mine a non stop 2 hour round up of the year rather than doing a 2 parter this year. Wack it on ur MP3 player if you're making any big road trips over the weekend perhaps. Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/nathantremeer/nathans-year-mix-2010 Tracklist: 01. Ali Wilson - 'Danger' 02. Ali Wilson - 'Shangri-La' 03. Marcel Woods - 'The Bottle' 04. 2. It's all part of the fun wondering who's it is eh. I'm assuming all will be revieled in about a week... but until then let's not try to give tooo much away. Looking forward to hearing all the mixes eventually
  3. Thoroughly enjoyed my mix... some complete BEASTS in there. To cap it all off - Blanco Diablo - 'Absolute Control' one of my favourite tunes of 2006. Top stuff whoever mixed this masterpiece.
  4. Thanks for organising this year Jason. Just listening to my received mix now and I like it already - only on the first tune... pretty hard from the offset.... will have to try and guess who's mix this is in a bit... hmmm. Hope everyone else is enjoying their mixes??
  5. No worries Aza, I can feel your pain there. This has been the busiest year for me too and the busiest ever for the company I work for. I've been well and truly stretched to say the least but I have been managing to record tapes at various intervals through the year. I think I have done about 20 so far. Most of them just need a little post production and converting to MP3 and then I'll be ready to upload a batch. I'm hoping to get some time to do this between Christmas and New year but will have to see how much time I have. I want to get it done soon though.
  6. I can never decide if I like the Cosmic Gate remix of Rank 1 - awakening or not. It has some good parts but I find bit of it annoying as well. I was always more of a fan of the original mix... though it takes a long long time to reach the breakdown and then ends shortly afterwards. Then I would say the Ferry Corsten remix is the 2nd best and Cosmic Gate bringing up the rear... although that said it's still OK.... hmmm I think I'll always be undecided - depends on the mood I'm in.
  7. Looks an improvement I must agree. Will try and check this one out
  8. Interesting Thread here. It makes me think I need to go and see Ferry again and give him another chance. Personally I think Briggsy sums up exactly how I felt about Ferry in the late 90's. I often say on here that around that time Jules was responsible for getting me into Trance and DJ'ing. However, Jules couldn't have had such an impact on me without the tunes he was playing and a huge number of the tunes that stood out for me at that time were in some way linked to Ferry Corsten. He was easily my favourite producer of 1999. My problem was coming to clubbing quite late. I first saw Ferry DJ during the LEF electro period Briggsy refers to and I was really not impressed with it. For me the set was just boring and had no energy. There was nothing wrong with his mixing or set flow but it was just a good few notches down from the level of energy he used to bring in his tunes in the late 90's. I then saw him in Ibiza 2009 and I must admit the set was far better and I was impressed but I just put it down to a one off at the time since I'd seen a fair few other boring sets of his before. Having not seen a full set this year from him I'd be interested to see if he's raised the bar again. It certainly sounds promising from this thread.
  9. Downloading now Sir. I love this time of year for mixes and board members audio. Bring on the year mixes!
  10. Good work Tim. I've corrected the main tracklist in the archives. It's weird, I remember ID'ing that Prezioso Noisemaker 6 tune seperately after a lot of searching. I've only now realised that you had beat me to it in this thread. I had put the correction into the archive tracklisting after purchasing the track off Discogs in May. I should really check this forum more thoroughly sometimes!
  11. Wicked mate. I didn't realise Dave's show was still going but to be fair to him he's always been supportive of up and coming producers. Great result.
  12. Gonna do mine this week hopefully. Got a week off work
  13. I think you're right Jason. We all winge about bootlegs or mashups (myself included) but actually Jules has always played gimmick records in amongst original productions. Stuff like Hani - 'Drugs Are Bad' and many other mashups and remixes were around back in his strongest part of his career and back then I loved those tunes, still do with that example. He's always known how to work a crowd by dropping in tunes people can easily recognise and connect with as well as more underground stuff. I think it is the current trend of the sound that I've gone off. The electro-trance sound is good in some cases but I don't like too much of it because I prefer the old style trance. However the new clubbing generation love that sound so I guess in some respects Jules hasn't changed that much - still plays to the crowds which is really what any good DJ should do. The only real shame is how his mixing has suffered over recent years through too much drinking while on the job in my opinion. The old live shows from 2000 were tightly mixed so he's definitely more than capable. The other thing which has effected the quality of tunes is the move to MP3s - too many average tracks making it to DJ's these days.
  14. Sounds good Aza. I need to have a think about what to do for mine. No inspiration at the moment.

    Tipping

Interesting article and I have never really thought about tipping "moving targets." I never even knew it was custom anywhere to tip bar staff but this does explain why I got a very angry rant from a barman in Berlin in the summer. I'd ordered a round coming to over 50 euros and paid by credit card as I was out of cash. He had a go at me saying "do you not know it's rude not to tip." I thought maybe he was just trying it on but in my view I had spent alot of money for a round in his bar and as a group we were putting loads of money in his tills. Why should we then be handing over extra cash to the staff. I totally agree with comments that it's the manager/owner's responsibility to pay the staff a fair wage. Drinks cost so much money these days there's no way I can afford to be tipping bar staff as well. In your own local where you know the staff and they take time to chat to you and are friendly, fair enough offer to buy them a drink or say keep the change once in a while. If you've had a load of drinks and the staff are too busy to have collected your glasses, help them out by collecting them up and returning them to the bar. In my experience this goes down pretty well in the UK and I've never felt any expectation to tip but perhaps this is a custom over in Germany where I was or in the U.S although I have never been there. I tend to leave the 10% tip or there abouts in a restaurant but thats about it. At the end of the day I work very long days doing a pretty thankless job most of the time for a pretty low wage but that is my choice and I see it the same for any job really. If you've given impecable service then it's nice to receive that bit of extra gratitude but we should all work that way as standard and not expect anything extra for it. It makes my day when a client writes a nice email to my boss about me or occasionally I'll receive a thankyou card but I would never expect a tip. These people have paid a lot of money for the service I and my company have provided and it's not their fault if my company takes a huge profit and pays me a relatively measley amount of that money. That's just reality and people should just deal with it.

  17. oh that TEED remix was awful. heard the last portion of the show live whilst driving the work van out of London. The DJ relay was rubbish - both awful tunes. The intro to the classic was very weird and unnecessary and the mix out of it into cry little sister was poor as well. First tune in the big room mix was terrible as well - sounded like it should have been in the backroom 2 feature. I didn't hear much of the show but what I heard was a real disappointment this week. It all just seemed very sloppy and full of naff tunes. Nothing to get excited about at all Im afraid to say.
  18. I have Traktor Scratch Pro now with the Audio 8 soundcard and I have to say it's brilliant. So much less hassle than burning CDs and works great with my CDJ 1000's. It was very easy to set up and its very stable (not crashed on me once). I can highly recommend it.
  19. Mate I'm loving Amber Sky as well. It reminds me of another tune but no idea what it is at the moment. I love the sound of the late 90's trance and this is very remniscent of it. I'd definitely play this. I'll check out the rest of your stuff too. Consider yourself "followed" on sound cloud.
  20. Some strange results. I'm surprised jules has gone back up so many places but fair play to him.
  21. Thanks mate, I have finally got round to subscribing so these will be going on the iPod for the car where I listen to most mixes etc. Will let you know when I've had a listen
