  1. I'm catching up with a few people on here later in the year and we'll do an audit of the files to check what's lying around on our hard drives and not yet uploaded.

    There are definitely a few Saturday shows to upload (mostly post-2003) from own own collections, and Simcut might have some more tapes (I will find out!), otherwise, this is pretty much all the audio we have on the Archives. I have recently found one half of the "end of year" show in 2000 (tracklisting here) and definitely have the other half somewhere on MiniDisc, so when I find it, I'll be uploading that this year.

    The BBC have a radio archive which will definitely contain a lot of Jules' shows but it's difficult to obtain permission to access this without good reason, and I'm unsure where or how it is stored. I can't really ask them for a trove of shows just so we can reupload them here as they will refuse it. It might be a case of going through the Radio Times Archive and picking a handful of must-have specific (and missing) shows and asking if they are available from the BBC Sound Archive?

  2. There were a good handful but they missed our radar. Jules even subbed in for Dave Pearce on Dance Anthems once on Sunday night - something you'd think he'd do more often but it was incredibly rare. Again, we don't have the date or tracklistings for it, although I remember it happening.

    Can anyone remember if Jules would follow this Essential Selection with his Friday 9-11pm slot? If so, that would be 5 hours of tunes from 1 DJ.... unthinkable on R1 today!

    Just having a listen to the unknown ids and I'm going to take a stab at track 14 being Martay - Gimme All Your Lovin' 2000 (Encounters Space Chase Dub) , as the  vocals sound  like 'all your loving, all your hugs and kisses too' which are lyrics in the chorus for this song.  I've just bought the CD single with it on to confirm, as I cannot find any clips on the net to confirm.

    This is the most exciting development in years for this ID - it's actually up there with my most wanted of all time. The vocals are definitely lifted from that chorus - my only fear is it's therefore a bootleg that couldn't be released for that reason. Do let us know as soon as the CD arrives!

    09. Freefall feat. Jan Johnston - Skydive

    Delighted to see Jules play this. I've only heard this twice before in a club - once was Matt Hardwick playing this many years ago up in Foundation, Newcastle, I've never seen so many people move from the bar onto a dancefloor, The second time was in Replica "Like it's 1999!" gig with Jan Johnston singing live, but she was off her face on something which made an already-unusual track a whole lot weirder, but still good!

     I see that Rich Solarstone started with 3rd Earth and I'm guessing he ended with Solarstone - 7 Cities?

    I love 3rd Earth, a brilliant track. The choir vocals are actually lifted (with permission) from a recording of John Tavener's "The Lamb", which I sung a few times when I was a wee lad!! The words start "little lamb who made thee"...

    Armin also played a promo version of this in his (best) R1 Essential Mix in 2003 which, if you listen carefully, has an extra 8 bars of build after the breakdown has finished. I have no idea why they trimmed that out for the final release. I'd pay loads if anyone has a copy.

    I'll go fetch my anorak now -_-

  6. From @Neuro, @FuzzY-LogiC and all the rest of the JJA team, we wish you all a very Happy Christmas.

    Thanks for your patience on all the recent changes. New audio downloads are coming next year, along with some serious cosmetic work on the tracklistings and gallery archives, so watch this space!

    :)

    whats happend to the audio downloads since 2 weeks unawalible?

    Everything is being transferred to the S3 servers as we speak. So gradually all the downloads will start working again.

    This will take a few days because of the sheer volume of data to transfer. Even via FTP on a superfast fibre connection, the upload took over 20 hours.

    The original issue was due to incorrect PHP settings that couldn't handle the transfer due to the large size of our mp3s. Unfortunately, the migration software is more like a cut & paste so the original audio archive was wiped even though the actual transfers failed. Luckily, we had a backup :)

  8. Well realistically I don't think until next weekend. I'm in discussion with my webhost, the devs at Invision (who provide this community software), and Amazon where everything is meant to be migrating to their S3 cloud servers in Ireland. The problem is the migration of files is meant to transfer seamlessly in the background and not break any existing links, but for a number of reasons this isn't happening properly.

    If there's anything you desperately need, just message @Neuro (me) and @FuzzY-LogiC and we'll get you hooked up with some temporary download links for the sets you require - obviously we still have all the original files offline on SSD hard drives :)

    Hi do you still have this file for download? It's coming up with errors.

    Yes, all the downloads are not working currently (transferring audio to new server). I've actually made the Audio Archive unavailable for the moment whilst we sort out the transfer.

    The mp3 for this one is in excellent quality so hopefully won't be too long before we're up and running.

    EDIT

    All back and working now!

  10. We are in the middle of transferring all our audio to another server which means currently the downloads are not working. Rest assured we're working on it and they'll be back up an running again as soon as possible!

    Please contact @Neuro or @FuzzY-LogiC if you have any questions or burning desires to get your hands on a particular file whilst this is being sorted.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Unknown IDs"  hope there comming back soon ... how to upload then an new id in the id selection with audio?

    Burien, your wish has been granted!

    This section is back alive - I've still got a lot of the old data to reupload in it (including all the old threads / audio clips), as well as the already-identified tracks. But I've made a start, and the ability for members to upload their own unknown IDs is functioning too. The player is HTML5 so it also functions on Android and iPhone platforms!

    I really hope you all like it - any suggestions or improvements please post here.

    More to come!

    Mate, perhaps set up an account so that people can make an annual donation if they so wish?

    I think this is a good idea and l for one will definitely make a donation

    Very kind of you both - thank you! I'll be setting up a sidebar widget for donations, which will be by PayPal. Any amount helps hugely especially as we now have to pay extra to store the downloads on external servers.

  13. Ok so by now you will have seen the upgraded board. It was a huge step.

    But there is more to do, because our webhost requires us to move all of our mp3 files to different (paid) storage, which is a real pain. It has been happily sitting on the server for 11 years and now they are unhappy with the amount of multimedia (probably close to 200GB now) of audio on a shared server, which is perhaps understandable.

    More stuff to come:

    • Stylesheets in the Tracklistings archive to fix;
    • Stylesheets and layout the Gallery archive and easier upload facility;
    • Downloads files to move to Amazon S3 storage;
    • Downloads archive to permit user-submitted files up to 200MB (if larger, Admins can circumvent this cap via FTP in your name, just contact us);
    • "Unknown IDs" section to return in a brand new section, with built-in audio player and user upload facilities;
    • New skin as default theme
    • New embedding code that recognises mp3 / youtube / soundcloud / mixcloud links and embeds them in your posts;
    • Lots of other niggles and tweaks

    Sorry for the downtime but we hope over the next few months you'll like what you see :)

    As we have no advertising on here, this site is all funded by myself personally and FuzzY-LogiC, so thank you for all your support and patience.

  14. Hello all

    It's been a very long time since we updated the software and styling on JJA. So right now and during this weekend we'll be updating the entire website, including this messageboard. ....If you see any missing logos, or stuff broken, don't fret!

    We really hope you enjoy the new look site when it appears :)

    Thanks for your patience!

  15. I was going through reading old issues of Muzik magazine on a website that has scans of every single issue and happened upon the formerly mentioned on page 5, Jules Do Us A Tape feature. And these years later I reckon like many it was a Jules production that was shelved and now lost in time no doubt.

    Jacey B, could you elaborate on this more? Have you a scan of the page maybe... I'm intrigued
