  1. Yes he did, apparently. Which makes this recent performance very hard to understand. If I had booked him for a classics set and then he turned up & played current stuff I would be pretty pissed off (and wouldn't book him again!) So perhaps Gatecrasher knew he wasn't going to play solely classics ... even though it was a classics night ?? And those jingles ... at Gatecrasher??? C'mon Jules, that's sacrilege!!! :rubbish: All very odd isn't it. I don't think he's doing this on purpose though, I think he honestly believes it's good.
  2. Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!
  3. Click on the link & get downloading mate! Welcome to the site!! 2002-08-24 - Judge Jules, Live at Creamfields
  4. Ok no worries, cheers!!
  5. Would you mind sharing this with me Craig? I'd be ever so grateful!!
  6. Ah yeah i've heard of Letterkenny. They don't come any bigger than Sasha either - good stuff mate!
  7. Haha! Should be interesting!! Remember those South Park "Dude, that kicks ass!" jingles he used to play on his show - I thought they were quite funny! I also thought the "We're getting LOU-DER!" jingle was cool. Much more recently he had that CDJ spin-back of "JJJJJJudge Jules" which I thought sounded rubbish & lazy, but perhaps that's just my age. IMO - unless it's for a live broadcast - jingles don't ever belong in the club environment!!
  8. Yeah fair enough mate, Nightingale has certainly paid her dues  I admit i have to skip the first 30 mins of Tong's show as it's always that SHM / Deadmau5 type sh1t. I still enjoy the rest of his show however. Does anybody here listen to Carl Cox's shows??
  9. Just have a look at this video of JS from a couple of weeks ago - the crowd look SO flat. http://www.youtu.be/qPFoSpfJuy4
  10. SH1TE. There's a young lad called somebody Tong - he's alright.
  11. ... and we're discussing his haircut?? :rubbish:
  12. Just don't use them as water bombs - i was nearly knocked out by one once ... they don't burst!!
  13. Great tunes but poor old Jules (& the other DJ's). Given what Gatecrasher was charging for this night I think it's pretty obvious that they really should have tried harder. It's not rocket science to ensure that the decks & mixer are working properly. Probably all too busy doing lines, drinking champagne and counting their money to really care about the night itself! No wonder there was a backlash against the 'superclubs' after the millennium.

Is it really that high still? I imagined it would be at least 50:50 due to iTunes.

... and of course there's Sarah Ferguson (Fergie) who I think still lives in the US? Are the f****** Black Eyed Peas really the reason for the name change?
  16. YES that's it mate, so banging! Cheers!! Hadn't heard the Dave Clarke story. What a bell end.

This used to be a real issue for me! Fortunately the decks are back now and well maintained again because of the use of Traktor Scratch et al.
  19. Hi all, Jules played a record back in 2000 (specifically 15.12.00 Live from Code in Birmingham) that went "Mis-fit, haha" over & over. In the track list archives it says that this was D.A.V.E The Drummer - 'One Last One'. I've looked up this tune and it ain't it! Any ideas what the correct id is? Cheers, Tim.

I have had bookings recently where i've been asked "You will be playing vinyl, won't you?" I should add that these questions tend to come from people who are at least 35!

Riding the pitch never seemed like a good idea to me. If the record is going just a little too fast and you adjust the pitch down to get it back in time, you then have to guess where it was before in order to keep it in beat, or else it's then too slow & you're suddenly having to pitch up (more often than not in a club there is not enough light to see the %). As with you chaps, I always found it far more accurate & quick to slow the platter gently with one finger (or speed it up by pushing the label) and then make the appropriate adjustment with the pitch depending on just how quickly the beats moved away from each other. I always wondered if this was indeed the subject of the title "Pitchin' (In Every Direction)" ??

Sorry, i'm not actually blaming Zabiela at all (although didn't he work closely with Pioneer R&D at one stage? ;-)). He was simply an example of a DJ who, to me, epitomises where DJ technology currently is, and how far you can take it. For sure vinyl is heavy, delicate, expensive and makes no sense at all, but then art forms & hobbies rarely make sense. Young kids are bound to go down the mp3 route - it's quicker, easier, cheaper and all that they have ever known. I fell in love with DJing when / because it was a beautifully simple, yet skilful art. I guess it still can be if you hook up 2 cdj's, put tape over the bpm readout and leave your laptop at home!! I think that you're absolutely right Cheese - everyone will have a say in the music played at parties of the future.
