  1. Certainly isn't playing Lizard style tunes. Went from there to full on techno and out the other end as a minimaly techy funky sort of sound. That old Mixmag CD in my vew is mailes apart from what he plays these day.
  2. £1,300 a unit? Ouch...I still want a pair though! Funny how I've never thought of getting new decks, but now these have come out I wanna ditch my 1000 Mk2's! Just goes to show, vinyl will never die!
  3. Following on from my housy analogy affair which you can still check out here, I've had a crack at a funky, looped, hard techno type tune. Originally started with the idea of making a fairly straitforward, cut and paste feel looped track, in the Umek/Kanzyani Recycled Loops vein with two nice samples I cut out, but things got a bit more flowery and synthy in the end. Scream Electric - Outsourced Audio A (Soundcloud) As ever, I welcome any thoughts and feedback, or buddies on the Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/screamelectric
  4. Just listened to the original and I like the stereo effect on the sub line, very nice
  5. Sounding good. Especially given that this is your first bash with Ableton. I reckon you could make a nice slow tech-house proggy builder type mix from the elements here.
  6. The audiogalaxy satellite kick started the whole file sharing boom. Proper old school that tim!
  7. Pencil my name in. If I have time I'll get one in. Glad to see this ball is still rolling!
  8. Bit late in on this thread I know, but I'd always spend as much money as possible on the input/sources rather than the mixer. You can get by with good quality input and a ropey mixer, but not the other way round.
  9. Keep in mind that Reason is a standalone product. More or less everything you need to make a tune is in there, but when it comes to using plugins you'll have to use something else. Some people find this constriction a creative help, others find this a creative hindrance. I think you'd be wise to start with Reason as things can't get too complex and you can get some awesome sounds out of it, whilst learning the principles of production at the same time. When you find your feet, or want something new, move on. For the record I use Fruity Loops and Reason as sound sources, and Acid to tie it all together.
  10. Awesome video. Thanks for posting Jason. I love geekery synth porn like this! Hopefully he'll get a bit more indepth  Edit: Really good to see that he still uses hardware, may have to reevaluate some of the backcatalogue!
  11. Sounding very good. I love the synth you've programmed that comes in just before 2:00.
  12. Don't pretend you don't love Mel & Kim.
  13. As for this whole 1xtra discussion. I find it hard to understand why people think that its creation means that Radio 1 is somehow obliged to get rid of all 'urban' programming. Regardless of what 1xtra is for, Radio 1 is supposed to be the 'cool trendy youth' station. As such, you can't deny that 'urban' has a claim to Radio 1's remit. Think of it another way, say that they started a BBC station dedicated to dance, you'd probably still want to see the important dance shows on Radio 1.
  14. Bit of a silly thing to say reall. This is ignoring the obvious political/social aspects to such a move. Edit: gonna put this in the other thread about Radio 1 instead as it's more relevant there...Sorry to cross contaminate threads. :whistling:
  15. There's a totally awesome SAW video on the third tab!
  16. Can't believe everyone is getting their knickers in a knot over this one so much. Radio 1 became a lost cause years ago, no point getting upset its pants now.
  17. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8163941.stm Jules talks to BBC News about acid house/raves.

Looks very sexy if you ask me!
  19. Just adding to #2's comments here. I've uploaded some original material before which has yet to get onto the archive. Maybe you could have a moderator to oversee uploads to this section, or possibly an automated system like you do for audio? Not having a go in the slightest here as I think you're doing a great job but would make the site even better to see them up there as I think they are equally as important as having the TLs and sets to download.
  20. Still uncovering lots of Jules related print media gems at the moment. Following on from my last post a while ago, which you can have a look at here: ( Assortment of Jules Scans), here's some extracts from the February 2000 issue of XFade. For all you young'uns you can even see Jules spinning records in the pictures...that's right VINYL! I've added them to my blog with some thoughts and you've even got some sounds to listen to a swell. Have a read here: Judgement Day: XFade Interview (2000)
  21. My limit is £50 a month or four separate purchases, depending on which comes first.
  22. I passed the Army Officer Selection Board and will be heading to Sandhurst in January where I'll spend the year getting beasted before the put me in charge of my own platoon.
  23. Half shameless self promotion, and half genuine interest. But I've redesigned my blog. It's all a bit brighter and easier on the eye, plus I've made a move to soundcloud for the audio. Any thoughts? http://mensch-maschine.blogspot.com/ Edit: All of the posts used to have sound with them, but due to the google server ending, I've had to make the change, hence only one you can listen to at the moment.
