2000-05-27 - Judge Jules, Homelands, Winchester
Spin Doctor replied to jmcconville05's topic in Judge Jules Audio
He did this a number of times when he 'rediscovered' Nightmare in 2001. The most notable and, as far as I know, only recorded version of this is Judge Jules @ Trance Energy 2001 [21-10-2001]. This can be downloaded from the archive here. -

Listening to this again tonight. Some good tunes in here. 21. Megamind - 'Taub 2002 (Megamind Mix)' [bXR] -
Last weekend I decided to plug in my old PS2. While I was lucky enough to have one, I preferred to play on my computer and decks back then and didn't really exploit the opportunity to explore the system. However, a dash of Wipeout Fusion and a look online made me think it might be fun to try out some new titles. Who had a PS2? Any recommended games? Ideally I would like suggestions for console defining titles and underrated classics - not really interested in the 100th edition of Pro Evo etc.

Looking forward to this mate. -
This would be for dowloading rather than promotion.

Does anyone from the board use Mixriot (link)? If so, is it worth a membership, or can one source most of the the audio via other means?

01. Archetype - 'Obscure Model EP' [Ongaku Musik] (Link) 02. Ambassador - One Of These Days (The Green Court Remix) [Planetary Consciousness] Track 01 and H - World Downfall; he really did like dropping some deep techno. :shifty: -
I have this show complete. Will upload soon.

Which method of mixing do you prefer - vinyl, CD, MP3?

Agreed it works for tech, but not so House or Trance IMHO. Drum and bass depends on the sub-genre; tech-step/neurofunk yes. -
2001-08-25 - Judge Jules, Creamfields, Liverpool
Spin Doctor replied to FuzzY-LogiC's topic in Judge Jules Audio
Excellent live broadcast possessing a great selection of tunes which really capture the live feel and energy of Creamfields without being overbearing. Incidentally, an event I was present for as one of my first ever dance music festivals along with Global Gathering and Gatecrasher Summer Sound System also on my itinerary in 2001. I remember waiting ages on dial-up to download this set via Soulseek the week after, leaving my computer on during the day while I was at School! I particularly like the, "Oh, ****!" mixing moment when he brings in Chuck Cogan - Voodoo too early then bails out for the Junior Jack breakdown; he should have rolled with the mix in my view. Not so keen on the Martin Luther King speech over Suburban Train. His use of this has been discussed at length before I am sure, but this would have had much greater impact if he had left the speech to play out over the breakdown instead of showing his relatively poor scratching skills. Tracklist corrections: 05. Brainbug - 'Nightmare' (Sinister Strings Mix) [Additive] 06. Dee Jay Punk Roc - 'Blow My Mind' (Plump DJs Remix) [Air Dog] (As correctly pointed out by Milkybarkid). - 21. Push - 'The Legacy' (Club Mix) [inferno] The Plump DJs were really on form in this era. Big Groovy F***** being a distinct favourite. Their new-school techy breaks really hit the spot. I have played this set many times over but couldn't resist another listen today. -
I am interested as to why this track is listed as "Hi-Gate - Martha Artha"? Obviously, it's a Jules production, but I am certain he played this during a studio set and directly named it Martha - Arthur during the vocal link. Are we just calling all unreleased Jules productions of this era "Hi-Gate"? If so, I do think this is the correct course of action given the quantity of material that was released on Closet without the Hi-Gate pseudonym. If there is direct evidence of this track being credited to Hi-Gate then I stand corrected. I will try and find a clip of the vocal link in question. Also, do we have any evidence towards the spelling of 'Artha'? Following from the colloquialism, I think it should be 'Arthur' (Link).

Sounding good. -
Which method of mixing do you prefer - vinyl, CD, MP3?
Spin Doctor replied to dizkojockey's topic in Open Chat
Not so sure on that one myself. Most modern DJs sound like they have ADHD and don't let a tune breathe. I'm not asking for 8 min plus for every tune or anything but a balance must be struck. At peresent I think it has gone too far in the short direction. -

A superb tune from this era. I prefer the original mix, but both typify the Gatecrasher sound for me. -
My set from Shindigerz - Saturday 21st June 2014

Tiesto - Sparkles (Transa Remix) has to be one of the best Trance tunes of that era. Nice mix into New Time New Place. Really not convinced by David Moleon - Drivers Of Babylon though. -
Seems odd they would announce the launch of a new product and then offer the Pioneer brand up for sale!
-
Pioneer have agreed to sell their DJ line to investment company KKR. I was originally going to post this in the Pioneer Turntable thread but I feel it deserves room for a discussion of its own. A move towards the final death of physical media DJing and complete use of controllerism or a potential resurgence opportunity?
