  2. After many years, I just listened to this mix again. Good mixing and tunes. Well done Tremor.
  3. Like most, I totally agree with Briggsy. However two points to consider in this discussion: Firstly, even though I share much of the sentiment and opinions written above, exactly the same argument was made by many back in the mid/late 90s and early 2000s. I remember distinctly Jules getting criticised heavily in printed music journalism (Ministry, Mixmag etc) and particularly on the Judge Jules Messageboard for abandoning his true sound (house of varying styles) and appealing to the youths and larger lout / beer boy crowd by playing what was popular rather than what he really had a passion for. Secondly, from about 2004 onwards I stopped paying attention to Jules’ productions. To me they all sounded horrible super-commercial cheesy rubbish. Out of morbid curiosity yesterday I listened to a clip of Turn On The Lights (link) expecting something completely dire. Nothing could prepare me from the shock of actually hearing something half decent. Lots of distinctive Jules’ production elements, particularly the rhythm at the start. Instantly sounds like a Jules tune. Lead is a bit too EDM but goes to show that there is still some skills left in the old man. What we wouldn't all give for him to play a propper classics set though? I haven't listened to the Luminosity recording yet and we are all looking forward to the JJ Archive Charity mix.
  4. Years later I still find this such a haunting tune. I think it also sounds better pitched ever so slightly down rather than up.
  5. Sorry, I can help with individual tracks. However, assuming you want these so you can burn a CD, there are many freeware programs you can utilise. You could use Audacity to chop the original into individual tracks and then burn these. Or you could make a cue file and then use that to burn a cd using ImgBurn. Some trial and error will be needed with both methods if you've not done it before.
  6. I think it almost goes without saying, but if you are in need of any tunes ripped that have been suggested please let the board know. Many of us here will be happy to help.
  7. I think there are a few who feel the same. Relatedly, I seem to remember talk of a club night once here. Perhaps revive this idea but something smaller like a pub back room; some beers, decks and the old and bold from the board turning up to have a spin and chat? Thinking out loud here more than anything, but if there is appetite...
  8. How many of the remaining regulars here are producers?
  9. Looking forward to listening to this one. Hopefully a return to form?
  10. Great to see so many new members. Would be great if you stick around a bit and share your memories/knowledge of the audio in the archive.
  11. Dan Bailey was the resident DJ for Radio 1. He did Dave Pearce's mixes on Dance Anthems and warmups for live broadcasts. Edit: Also, the volume of the new recording is very low and I had to normalise it. Fuzzy, is there any chance you could do the same to the original?
  12. I've got about half a dozen or so that I downloaded. I haven't had chance to upload them to here, but watch this space; it is on my list of things to do.
  13. Donated now. Going to have a hard think about my nominations.
  14. Had another listen to this classic set today. It is by far one of my favourite Jules live sets and really showcases the man at his peak. Excellent mixing and tune selection combine to provide a powerful mix of techy, hard and anthemic trance. If you haven't listened to this yet, you must do so.
  15. I've a lot of time for Ferry, but this one doesn't float my boat. Good to see him producing varied styles again though.
  16. I think Jules' is a little late in the game bringing this one out.
  17. Every time I hear this tune I can help feeling disappointed. The start is a heavy, dark sounding tune which promises to deliver a belter. Then the main melody hits and it becomes a cheesy throw away tune in my view.
  18. Solar Factor - M.I.K.E. at the top of his game. What about the sets from the archive though? These should be much worse than a CD!
  19. In the end I played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I think I'm going to go for Silent Hill 2 next.
  20. I decided to finally get another copy of, in my opinion, one of Jules' highest quality mix compilations, Clubbed 2002. I bought it when it was released but it got nicked my tent at Global Gathering in 2004 or 2005 (along with ISOS 1 and some other classic mix CDs). Almost ten years later I haven't replaced it! From Discogs it seems there are two versions of Clubbed 2002. The main double mix CD (Discogs) isn't anything new, but it seems there is a second mix CD (Discogs) which is only on one disc. The track list is subtly different from the main double mix but largely features tunes from the former. Tracklist, copied from Discogs, for the curious: Anyone know the story behind this? Apparently, there was only an Australian and UK release. I am thinking either licensing issues for some of the tunes or perhaps cover CD teaser.
