  1. A recent thread made me revisit this again (on good old fashioned cassette). Definately my favourite set on here, particularly these; 03. SPX - 'Straight To The Point' (X-Cabs Remix) [inversus] 18. Madelyne - 'A Deeper Love (Beautiful Child)' (Gizeh Mix) [Liquid/Xtravaganza]. Does anyone know much about them/ have them? All you tube has are cheesy versions. Can't remember Jules playing them any other time.
  2. I'll have a look, hopefully I still have a copy. It probably won't be great quality though, coz I think I copied it before I sent it to Tim, and sent him the better version. *edit, I've had a look, and I don't seem to have it, but I'm pretty sure a mate of mine has one, so let me know if I can help. But it can all keep until you are all less busy. It's worth the wait.
  3. I was just about to! I swear* It was actually a great night. His support dj never showed, so he played the whole night. Nearly all classics too, though of the more techno variety, not once playing Lizard, Iguana or any of those hits of his. He seemed a very nice bloke too. Everyone was expecting him to finish early once word got out the support dj hadn't showed, but he just kept on playing. Top, top night. *I'm a liar, I'd completely forgotten about this thread.
  4. Sankey's Soap for me too, although probably more for personal reasons, it was the most listened to tape among all my friends. I think the energy and tune selection on that set was just amazing. It's a pity the full set isn't up on here, as the start of that set is the best for me (even though Jules doesn't even mix one of the tunes at the start, although I believe there were big problems with the mixer that night) By the way, Fuzzy, I sent Neuro a cassette with the missing section on it, maybe if you asked him, he could dig it out for you, although I'd imagine he has loads waiting to be sorted.
  5. You know what, I'm so pleased that John has used proper vinyl rips on this. He was the first dj that I can remember saying he preferred using cd's in his set. Iirc, it was m8 mag, round 2001, and at the time there was a big row going on about moving from vinyl, and he said in his column, he'd been using cd's for 6months, and no one knew, and he defied anyone to tell him the difference in quality, as that was the main arguement people used. It was so controversial at the time. Pity I can't find it anywhere, he was defending himself like a man on death row! Fair play to him for seeing vinyl still has a place after all these years, even if he was right. Def gonna check this out. Glad to see something different in the tired 'Classics' market.
  6. I quite fancy Lady Sov. She's chavvy, mouthy, and would kick my ass no probs, but I just do. I'm not proud of this. From what I saw last night, that Basshunter fool was flirting with her a lot. He's a mucky so and so. Some 'intimate' pics of him and a lady friend are out there I believe. Steven Baldwin could be a bit mad I reackon. I might watch this series.
  7. This is scary how long I've been searcing for this mix. That Matt Darey mix of Technique, only got uploaded for about 4days on you tube before being taken down. This is why I love this site. Will grab this when my crappy broadband limit lets me. Muchos graziaz senior Simcut. You have no idea how envious I am of your back catalogue Long may it continue.
  8. Ha, sorry. I couldn't make out what your pic was on my laptop for some reason, so came in here to have a proper nosey.

Great pic. Jules looks smashed though!!

  9. JUDAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Ha ha, that is ace. Brylcreem sales must heve plummeted when Jules shaved his head though.
  11. You Tube is so crap! It's full of versions recorded off some geeks mobile pointed at the tv! This is the best I could find. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY2H2kBzOvo
  12. Me too! I actually think Paradise is a better tune than Angel, but that's just my two cents. It just shows you how good these tunes were, that even though they drove us mad, nothing was gonna stop us mixing them into a set. I don't know if I would show the same perseverance today though. I don't think a producer would dare allow a tune out unless it was technically perfect, for fear of it being cast aside without a chance.
  13. I seem to remember James Zabelia/Holden* saying they purposely made the BPM slightly slower or faster during the dropout of a few tracks, just to see if a dj had an ear to recognise it and screw with them. Hated mixing with Fridge, Paradise too. Wierd, hard to mix beat, and it ended on a crescendo that just keeps getting louder. Impossible. *Disclaimer; I could be a mile out saying those names, thats off the top of my head.
  14. Re the Ayla and Red Light mixing together; did you just discover that yourself? Kudos if you did, coz that's exactly how Jules fits them on the Clubbers Guide cd! (Ibiza 99 I think). I know exactly what you mean, Dj Taucher is notorious for it, I could never figure out how to mix in Bizzare. I remember that Positiva vinyl aswell, I let it go two beats early (or late) if i remember right, it was fine then. Ratty Sunrise was another that was messed up to bring in. Don't dj anymore, but I presume it's a bit easier now digitally to mark a certain point or edit out a bit when burning the cd.
  15. To be honest, when I saw this, I thought; sacrilege! The original of this symbolises all that was great about trance in that era... but I think you've done a good job there. Enough parts of the original left in, and you've left your own stamp on it too, a good balance. Well done, you should be very proud. Tricky business remixing those classics.
  16. Apparently Jules walked off mid-set at a gig in Sunderland on Saturday night. Hadn't heard anything about it myself, but I'm sure there's loads of 'Superstar DJ Acts Like A Diva' stuff doing the rounds. I have to say, I dont blame him if what he says is correct. The promoters sound very shady. http://www.judgejules.net/index.php?page=2
  17. That list was spot on. Official business; http://www.djmag.com/top100?page=1
  18. Is this confirmed then? I know we all have our views on how correct this list is, but if this is true, I think Jules will take this badly. He seemed to be doing a lot of canvassing for votes at the time. I think it means a lot to some djs. Found this other poll today, no where near as relevent or credible, but still not pretty for Jules nontheless; http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=542041&forumid=1
  19. If even a third of the stories about Brandons past are true, its a modern day miracle the man can still walk and talk unaided!!! Some great pics there though.
  20. Don't want to alarm you no2 fan, but you might want to get that checked. A mate of mine was a very promising dj, and he had to pack it all in at the age of 24 when he was diagnosed with Tinnitus. Thats how it affected him, a ringing noise in the ears when it was quiet. I think Taul Paul suffered from it too. Not saying thats what you have, but I just thought you would like to know.
  21. Yeah I'm definately gonna give it a go, cheers guys. Not really much into minimal, but if its good, and the atmosphere's right, I'll enjoy it no matter what.
  22. Yeah I heard him about two years ago, and it was pretty full on techno. Seemed to play for himself though, not guaging any crowd reaction, head down all the time. A lot of people were disappointed. Maybe the more minimal stuff will be better. Cheers.
  23. Anyone heard him recently? He's playing locally on Friday night, but I haven't heard much about him in a while, so I dont know what to expect. If he's still playing Lizard and all that malarkey, I dont think I'll bother though.
  24. Whats the opinion on the cdj900's then? I dont have cd decks yet, and these look very appealling to me.A version of the mk3's with the usb input for about £1100ea as far as I can make out? Can't see many forking out for the 2000's for a bedroom, however cool they are.
  25. And on that note........................................................ http://www.gogol.co.uk/deejays.html
