  1. Thanks for the post mate, makes very interesting reading. I tend to agree pretty much with what you've said elsewhere. I think ATB did act like a tool, and by splashing the whole thing over Twitter, it looks like he was trying to make himself look good before this story broke. Though there obviously must be some sort of tension between him and PVD, which also begs the question someone else asked; why was he asked to move his set time in the first place? However, if he did act the way the promoters say he did, to a woman, then I hope he never gets back to play there again.
  2. Start time, 1.30 am, approx, our time. http://www.awdio.com/ By the way mods, in case you're worried this is a dodgy illegal link, Jules posts this himself on his Twitter, so I'm sure its ok. (Hopefully!!!!!) http://twitter.com/RealJudgeJules
  3. Jeez!! Thats a wierd one. Whats the general opinion of the people on those forums you mentioned? Has ATB got previous for primadonna behaviour? Cant see how PVD would be threatened by him, unless its some personal agenda. Tend to believe the promoters though, as its pretty slanderous stuff if,they made it up. Crazy stuff though, obviously major grief backstage!
  4. I would agree with most of these, but I have to ask about PVD. Is he still playing all that crap? He came to my town (Ireland) a year ago, and played an almost techno set. No-one recognised one tune he played. It was actually very refreshing. He was last dj on too, so I was at least expecting For An Angel or something to please the masses. Maybe its because it was in a smaller environment, he tried something different. Its a real shame if he's still playing all that old tosh. Oh, and can I be cheeky, and suggest our beloved Jules? How he still gets so high in dj polls now is beyond me.
  5. Here's a link for Jules' set live from Judgement Sunday that he posted himself, starts at 2am our time. I do suspect I shall be in the land of nod myself by then though. http://www.awdio.com/?ik=IBIZA
  6. This is kind of worrying for me. Jules always said he preferred the later time slot, as he had more freedom over what he plays. So is he just getting more commercial, or is he afraid of losing his slot????
  7. Did you listen in no2 fan? I presume his set was on pretty late. When I logged on at about twelve there was nothing happening.
  8. Best of luck mate. I know the fella's. You couldn't get sounder lads too.
  9. I'll definately be going the cdj route (initially anyway) if I go for it. I think I'll actually miss the physical aspect of vinyl, so I'm assuming the cdj 800s are a minmum requirement (they have the sort of vinyl imitation platter dont they?)?? Anyway, it'll be a month or two before I do anything. Just wanted a bit of feedback. Thanks all
  10. Ha ha, love the way the last post is you shouting; TRACK 8! Staking your reputation on the line here. Looking forward to hearing this now!
  11. I love singles and angles, one of the many underrated classics Jules brought into my life. But what is the first track you mentioned no2 fan? Couldn't find it on youtube, or remember it, to my shame.
  12. Ha ha! Ah don't worry, she's my priority. Any deck tomfoolery will come after she's well looked after. Although I'm sure you've heard; 'so its basically playing two records at the same time? Yeah. Ace'
  13. Thanks. You're both thinking the exact same things as me. I really want to do it, for such selfish reasons though, if that makes sense. The only other point is, trying to justify to my girlfriend blowing roughly two grand on a hobby, on something of which she has no interest or passion. Her favourite artist is Bruce Springsteen!!! (theres only 6 days age difference between us before you wonder! Different upbringing altogether just!)
  14. Apologies, this may go on a bit, but if you can bear with me, I'd really appreciate anyones input. Basically, I havent dj'd in 6yrs, when I sold my decks and sold/lost all my vinyl. I've never uesd cd decks. If I'm honest, dance music hasn't inspired me in the same way it did when I first started back in 1997. I've recently come to the point where I can probably afford decks now, and its really tearing me apart whether to go for it or not. Now though, although I'm still not overly enthusiastic about todays music, some of it is starting to give me that ITCH. Also, the prospect of being able to play those obscure white labels Jules played years ago, have now got a name and i can hunt for them, thanks to this site, which is probably just as exciting for me. First of all, I've no idea how to go about building up my old collection digitally again. Will it cost me a fortune? Where do I go? Secondly, I've only got a crappy laptop, crap broadband with a monthly limit, will this make it nearly impossible when it comes to downloading? Secondly, has dance music moved on too much, is there any point? The people who I know from back then are all into production etc. I've no interest in going down that road, nor the Serato/Ableton road for financial reasons, so is there any point in me trying now? I miss the buzz I used to get from dj'ing, even in my bedroom, playing to a few mates, so much, nothings replaced that. But am I too far removed from it to waste my time and money on it now? Any thoughts welcome please.
  15. John Dig something or other. I've no idea what that last picture is. Ahem.
  16. You know what, this is why I love this site. Just grabbed this set, and it just reminded me of how good this period was. The Robbie Rivera mix of Club Strobe followed by Quake, just sum up this era for me. Its the tunes that aren't your normal classics, but proved what aa rich time in music it was. A Big thank you for whoevers responsible for uploading this gem of a set.
  17. Yeah, I was saying to my girlfriend that he completely changed his appearance because his father used to call him ugly etc. I showed her those pics and she was horrified at how he's changed. She'd never really seen him when he was young and couldn't get over how good looking he used to be. For someone to feel so low as to do that to themselves, they musta been as insecure as a person can be.
  18. Funny you should say that, I always comlained about the volume and eq for the mix in part of rheincraft. I always needed a track with a very minimal dropout to get the full effect off it. But when it worked, magic.
  19. So, if deadmau5 hears a dj play one of his tracks when he's out, does he turn away in disgust saying; 'he's just playing my record at the same speed as the last without any invention or imagination, please try make your own version of it??? Or does he say; 'yes, heres my tune, lets dance!'
  20. I was lucky enough to be working in a nightclub here in Ireland in 98 and99, when I was only 16. Its only a small club, but had a massive student night, who started bringing in djs, mainly bigger Irish ones at first. For rag week (sorta student end of year p up) 98,they had a full week of events culminating in a Laurent Garnier live show. At the time, I was into harder house, so was decidedly underwhelmed by this. To this day, I've never seen anythig like it. Amazing. Being 16, sober, and meant to be collecting glasses, and I'd the best night of my life. The club was meant to finish at 3, the music was still going at 4 with all the lights on! He revealed in an interview later that he used to seek small unknown clubs where he wont be well known, and try and win the crowd over. The stage he played on was used for bingo 24hrs later. I kid you not!!!!
  21. A top post, and very elequantly put. Eddie was always at the forefront of pushing the boundrys of what constitutes live dj'ing imo. So when his methods became accessable to all, it left him at a crossroads. He was the one dj that, even if you didn't like his music, you could appreciate how good he was technically. Now, he needs another level to set him apart.
  22. Col Hamilton (Lush,NI resident). Mediocre dj, though he just plays to suit whoevers on after him, so its kinda hard to tell what style he plays, but just an absolute t**t. He always used to think he was just on the cusp of the superstar status, just like his 'mates', and it never happened. He's always had a spitefull resentfull side. I've met him a few times too, and he's a bigger tool in real life. He's fine other than that.
  23. milkybarkid

    LMAO

Ha ha ha! Classic. Forward it to Dave Pearce! I'm sure it'll be a bit technical for him, but still.
  24. I was always told the reason they remove all the caps on the bottles, is the same as at a footie ground; health & safety, so you cant throw it. If the caps off, most of the fluids spill out before they land when thrown, thus not cracking someones skull. Tho I suspect the money reason is probably more like it...............
