  1. Whilst I agree with the sentiment, it would spam the place up something terrible, would it not? Welcome to you, hope you love it as much as we do.
  2. Doh! How did i not get that? To be fair, she has previous. Didn't she pose in a see through top in mixmag or summit? Still cant see why she'd send it to all her friends. Must've been a mistake.
  3. Erm. Is this someone famous? If it's someone who's used to trying to get a bit of publicity then, yes I can see why they've done it. If it's one of your mates or someone, then it's a bit attention seeky. Obviously not shy about themselves. Better send me their link so I can be sure for myself .* *Joking obviously, I'm not even on Facebook.
  4. He's a bit of a loon isn't he? Some of the video's of him on You-tube are mad, he obviously like his, erm, 'partying'. Found that a good read, he's a fierce defender of the vinyl aspect isn't he? While it was actually quite sad to see that he's gonna have to admit defeat in it, regardless of how much he choses not too. As he said, it's like forcing a grand pianist to use a Casio. I think he makes a good point about to much re-editing and playing with tracks while dj'ing. As he (sort of) says how would an author feel if you did a book reading of his book, and had left bits out, and put your own bits in? I know its hard to put in context, but I think he has a point. Thought he made a great point about mixing too, half the excitement about mixing is worrying are the beats perfect, what adjustments need to be made. The synch button takes that element away.
  5. Well, had a good listen to my SS mix over the festive period (Aza's), and have to say, I absolutely loved it. Some tracks I was aware of, some not so much so. Lots of it is from a period where I wasn't as actively paying a lot of attention to Jules (well not as much as I used to anyway), due to a lot of stuff going on personally, around that period, so it's great to hear a lot of these again. Great flow to the set, and absolutely perfect mixing. Personally I loved: 5. Intrique - Latino Nights (Motivation Mix) (Nebula). Loved this, great atmospheric wee track, with a great riff. 8. Frank TRAX - Nebuchan (ORGAN Remix) (Neo Records) The biggest riff of that time for me, I think the last trance breakdown to my the hairs on my neck actually stand, still does. 10. Mekka - Diamondback (Angeles Remix) (Perfecto). Class track, moody and pounding. (I actually had this on my first draft of my SSmix, then took it out!) 13. Yahel - Open Your Mind (Magikal Remake) (Black Hole Avanti) Awesome tune, don't think I'd heard it too often before, reminds me of something very recent although I can't quite put my finger on it. All in all, a top, top set. Had me hooked from start to finish. One I'll be going back to lots of times. Thanks to Aza, and to Jason for setting it all up, musta been a right pain! Gonna get stuck into some of the others now soon.
  6. Yeah, like to echo that. Massive thanks Jason. Actually quite nervous about mine. First mix I've recorded anywhere, for anything, in ten years. Had a quick listen to my received mix, really enjoyed it. Few tunes I don't know, which I always enjoy. I'll try give it a more attentive listen through the ipod shortly. No idea as to who's it is though.
  7. Well I've done some digging, it's not the club mix, nor the Circus mix, nor the Scott Project mix, but it came up on you tube as the Paul Van Dyk mix. His unofficial bio has it on there as well, saying it was never released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66O6Fq0urZE http://www.tursa.franken.de/PaulVanDyk_discog.html#meteorseven Sketchy I know, but it definately isn't any of the other mixes which are far more banging. edit: Mixriot have it on his tracklisting for Loveparade 2000 too: http://www.mixriot.com/content/paul-van-dyk-loveparade-2000
  8. *Punches the air* Nice one. Thanks for the new audio by the way. Will get stuck into a few of these very soon and respond. Great to see some fresh stuff up!
  9. I think I've corrected some of Jules' set (not 100%, so maybe someone could check?) Judge Jules 01. Unknown - 'Unknown' [white label] 02. Unknown - 'Unknown' [white label] 03. Safri Duo - 'Played-A-Live' [AM:PM] 04. Warrior - 'The Warrior' [incentive] 05. Kristine Blond - 'Love Shy' (Electrique Boutique Vocal Mix) [Relentless] 06. Yves Deruyter - 'Factor Y' (Talla 2XLC Mix) [bonzai] 07. Benicio - 'For The Love Of You' [iD&T] 08. Hi-Gate - 'D-Tune (Earplugs)' [incentive] 09. Da Hool - 'Eichelrück' (MG Mix) [Additive] 10. Yoji Biomehanika - 'Seduction' [Aztec] There is no tune between Loveshy and Factor Y, so there are only ten tracks. Haven't had a chance to listen to the rest of the set yet.
  10. Mines' been posted today Jason. You should have it by the end of the week.
  11. Re: Tremor. I'd like to expand a wee bit on your point about Jules always playing gimmicks/bootlegs. I was thinking about this the other day. While he always did play these sort of tunes years ago, it was always just the right side of cheese. He'd play a proper trance tune with a vocal over the top, Toca's Miracle for example. His gimmick tunes (by and large) were still proper tunes underneath, Mario Piu The Library, Nappy Hardcore etc. They all had a gimmicky cheesey sample, but a decent tune at the heart of it, so even though it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, it didn't put you off. And, even if you despised it, you knew it was in the minority, so you didn't mind so much, which isn't always the case today. Now though, it's the opposite. He's taking poppy chart songs, and tries to squeeze a trance tune around them, rather than the other way around. The trance element seems to be the afterthought. As Jason said too, it's all our tastes which have evolved. But this often makes me wonder, why has Jules taste not evolved too, or is he happy with the stuff he's playing? As someone said above, he does seem capable of playing stuff that it would seem would appeal to us 'old guard', so he obviously still has the ear for it. Maybe he just chooses not to use it..
  12. How relevant are these polls though? Anyone I speak to who isn't into trance, mocks it and calls it the 'Trance 100 Poll'. They always rattle off a list of names who should/shouldn't feature (some very hard to argue with too). The other factor is, Jules seems to really value this poll. Maybe all dj's are the same (I can't say as I don't follow too many others closely), but it seemed that each and everything Jules related for the months when the poll was open was geared towards you to voting for him. Every 2nd tweet, every Club Diary, every page on his site, all had a link urging you to vote for him. He has commented since that he's absolutely delighted to be back in the top twenty again. Obviously it's a very big thing for him. Don't get me wrong, I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with what he did, or his reasons why he pushes it, far from it, it's good to see him in the top twenty again. I'm merely questioning the substance of the poll itself.
  13. Very good read. Never knew he produced The Happy Mondays (to my shame)! Whats he actually like these days? I know he's like the Celine Dion of dance, residency in Vegas with big emphasis on the 'show', but is he still playing trance? Lost interest in him around the 'Bunkka' time. Used to love all that old Perfecto and Perfecto Fluoro stuff.
  14. Beachball and Rhianna? Which version of beachball? Can't say it sounds tempting!!! Listened to a wee bit last night. Far to many jingles for my liking. Only heard a bit at the start though.
  15. Threads here mate. http://www.judgejulesarchive.co.uk/archives/board/index.php?showtopic=6737 Aye get in on it!! I think there's about 10 or so confirmed. Nervous about mine as it's the first time I've recored a mix in ten years.
  16. Please please please please please please PLEASE tell me J&T Project - 'Love The Way You Beachball', isn't what it sounds like? I feel ill.
  17. Ha ha, tell me about it. All I had to worry about was missing the sound of the tape getting chewed up, or knocking the needle off near the end! Na, I'll do it like you said, and get it sent. Thanks mate, I'll do that soon, and pm you for the address. I'll do it soon coz I'm in Ireland. Think we still deliver by pidgeon abroad!!
  18. OOhhh. Good to see some good old BXR! Will give this a listen when I get a chance. Looks excellent!
  19. Okay, I'm completely starting from scratch at this (dj'ing) again now, but I'm gonnna start this mix soon. A few questions: Do we know who the mix is for beforehand, or do we just do it, and send it off? Secondly, re the 320 issue, I'll be using two cdj's recording on Audacity, burning onto cd. All of my recent stuff is in 320, will it still keep that quality, or do I need to do something else? Some of my older tunes aren't 320, think some are 192 or something though. Apologies, it's been nearly ten years since I last did something like this. I used to just have hit record on the tape deck!
  20. Yeah the original. The Undertones are from Derry. It was amazing to be honest. Definately Jules played it. He opened his set with it. I remember some twat launched a glowstick or something at him as he started, and thinking he was gonna walk off, then he launched into this. Mayhem.
  21. Sorry, forgot to write back on this. Interesting one this. Not a classic in the 'anthems' sense, but loads of the excellent funky house Jules used to cane on this. Less of the better known anthems. Although still pitched up to the max as was par for the course then! As I said, love bits of audio like this, with some stuff I'd never heard. The Viagra tune!!!!!!! What the hell? Funny as feck. Agree bout the E17 track too, although all the Sharp Boys stuff was ace to be fair. Love the way they used to try and disguise who the real artist was. I remember Jules playing a Yomanda mix called 'G' or something like that on white label. Turned out to be Geri Halliwell's Bag It Up! Thanks again for the upload.
  22. I was at this. Nearly 100% sure Jules played Teenage Kicks, not Col Hamilton. Jules opened his set with it. Nearly brought the tent down. Amazing moment.
  23. I saw that and thought, 'please don't let that be what it sounds like'. I can only imagine what tosh it must be. J&T bootleg perhaps? Love that Micheal Woods tune though.
  24. I was just having a nosey round, and saw no-one had commented on this. Gonna grab it, and report back later when I stick it on the ipod. Love finding old audio like this. Thanks for the upload. By the way, I had to laugh, the stick we're giving Jules about playing B.E.P. etc, isn't; E-17 - 'Betcha Can't Wait' (Sharp Boys Club Mix) [Telstar], East 17? Although to be fair, the Sharp Boys had a bit of a name for doing tough remixes of pop songs as far as I remember (think they remixed Britney even) *edit; yep: http://www.discogs.com/Britney-Spears-Baby-One-More-Time/release/420965
  25. Great find, thank you. I wonder is this by Jules himself or Radio1? If it's R1,I think I hear the sound of an axe being sharpened, way off in the distance. I spent nearly half an hour filling that in. Spleen well and truly vented.
