  1. 18. Starfighter - Apache (Original Mix) Track 9 I've heard before but the name evades me
  2. See, this is why it seems like Tristan D is f****** Jules over. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with that mix. The track selection is spot on, no cheese or anything. Jules on the other hand has been playing some absolute shockers.
  3. I laughed. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
  4. 20. Virtual DJ - 'From Sunset To Sunrise' (Gigi Lav Mix) [suntec]
  5. Sadly I think part of this is due to the fact that trance (and dance music in general) had moved on and reinvented itself over the past few years. Go back to the early 2000's and Jules was playing full on banging sets with energetic peak time trance, a bit of hard house here & there and the odd obscure techno track (BXR anyone?) thrown in for good measure. That's what everyone loved Jules for; his sets a complete mash up of all that was pumping. Dance music as a whole has moved on. Most straightforward trance these days is very samey and it's only once in a while (in my opinion) that a truely stand-out track is released. Go back to the early to mid 2000's and there was such an array of fantastic trance that it was hard to keep up. A lot of trance has also adopted a more progressive sound (what I like to call the "Arnej" sound). It's melodic and it's well produced but it just doesn't kick and personally I like my trance to kick. There's a lack of energy there, nothing that makes you want to move. Even artists (Cosmic Gate for example) who have produced some real hard-edged stuff over the years have moved over to the more progressive style. Techno has also gone all minimal on us which has taken tech trance the same way leaving tech trance & tech house virtually indistinguishable. Sure, there are artists like Peppelino producing the more banging side of techno but to my ears it all sounds the same. Likewise there are still a few producers producing the harder side of tech trance but with the exception of Mac & Taylor, BK, and a few others the rest of it just sounds like the sort of stuff that JOC and Bryan Kearney have been churning out for the past couple of years which doesn't give much variation. Hard trance has also changed. Virtually all of the hard trance I've heard over the past couple of years or so is that Steve Hill vs Technikal style tacky stuff which is, again, very samey. I think that partly Jules is just trying to move with the times. Granted, many of the J&T productions / bootlegs are utterly shocking (which supprises me since the past couple of Tristan D productions have been outstanding) and some of his track selection leaves a lot to be desired. Back in the day though Jules was famous for dropping these wacky & wonderful tracks that no one else was playing and I think that's what he's trying to do here but missing the mark by a country mile. I don't think Tristan is helping matters either and at times it does seem like he is in it for his own gain. Before the whole J&T thing I wouldn't have had a clue who the hell Tristan D was. I now, of course, know him to be a bad influence with a strance face. So yes Tristan doesn't seem good for Jules but at the same time even without him we wouldn't see the return of the Jules of old because dance music has simply moved on too far. Essay over
  6. I've never made a bootleg before so I thought I'd have a crack at it. It's a mashup of Dark Matter - Absolut (BK Remix) and Mike Shiver vs Fandy - Sique (Ronski Speed Remix). Enjoy!
  7. Hey guys & girls. I've just finished another track called 'Hit The Dirt'. It's a bit more pumping than my last one. Feedback would be nice. Cheers
  8. CD 2 would have to be something like this: Da Hool - Eichelrück (MG Remix 1) [Additive] V.C.O. - Tears Of An Angel [Waxworxx] Eufex - Junkie Monkey [Arriba] Fingers Burnt - Act Your Age Not Your Shoe Size [Fingers Burnt] Azure - Sunset [White Label] Olive - You're Not Alone (DJ Mishka Remix 2) [White Label] VPL - T-Break (Steve Murano Remix) [Closet] Graham Gold vs. B'Jammin - Golden Sun [Relative] Polaroid - So Damn Beautiful (Dogzilla Mix) [Decode] Slipmatt - Space (Ibiza Terrace Mix) [Concept] F1 - U Sucker! [White Label] Warrior - X [incentive] 4 Strings - Sunrise [Liquid] G&M Project - Sunday Afternoon (M.O.R.P.H. Remix) [iD&T] F&W - You Will Understand [F&W]
  9. Sounds like a plan to me. I was also thinking of suggesting everyone picking some classic Jules sets (especially some of those that aren't the best recordings) and re-creating them, be it using software or mixing them live. Would be great to have some high quality re-creations of some of the classic sets. Anyone up for collaborating on re-creations of the infamous Karranga and Lush ID's to include?
  10. A bit disappointing this to be honest. It's just the same tracks that appear again & again on every mediocre, run of the mill dance compilation. Anyone fancy a crack at a "JJA 2000-2010" album? That would be the first truly good dance compilation since about 2004.
  11. I used to be an avid guitarist but after getting back into dance music in early 2008 (after a 3 year foray into punk, metal & emo) my guitar has been gathering dust in the cellar. If anyone knows of someone who's looking for a good quality, sub £500 guitar tell them to check out my Ebay listing. Ibanez MTM-2 Guitar (Ebay) It was about £490 new (although I've seen them going for up to £520), It's hardly been used & is still on the original set of strings. It's been well looked after & apart from being out of tune It's pretty much ready to go. Cheers
  12. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was caused by some automatic update but I'm not sure how true that is.
  13. I had all sorts of problems with it. Towards the end I was having crashes, blue screens of death (this sort of thing), loads of errors occuring, etc. I thought my hard drive was on it's way out. I backed up everything I needed, wiped the hard drive & installed Windows 7 from scratch & I haven't had a problem since.
  14. Basically, yeah. You just use it like a flash drive.
  15. I've got a little USB powered 320 gig Seagate. I had to reformat my computer a while back (it had a virus called Windows Vista on it) & the Seagate was cheap & ideal for the job. Used it loads for music & stuff since.
  16. An unknown track from about 2000. Anyone know what this is? (posted in here because it's just a random unknown track I found as opposed to a Jules ID) Stumbled across it on Youtube & it sounds so familiar. Cheers!
  17. Yeah the classic choice was a white label bootleg of Plummet - Damaged and Mauro Picotto - Lizard called Mauro Damagio - I'm Damaged (Lizarazu Mix)
  18. I actually almost did lol. Nothing puts a lump in the throat & a tear in the eye like a broken limited edition test press
  19. Fantastic track! Was listening to that set in the car earlier actually.
  20. I completely agree but he seems like a nice guy so I took him up on the offer of another record from his stock & went for Da Hool - Eichelruck (Thunder Club Mix / MG Remix 1). I just can't believe the record was broken because it was the only one for sale anywhere that I could find & I would have been listed as the only member of Discogs to own it (takes me back to when I used to spend hours in record shops to find just one rare gem that I knew hardly anyone else had). I found MP3 copies of it (I think Trackitdown had it) but they were all 192k so I decided to go for the vinyl. I never really bought any vinyl until about 2002 when I first got a pair of decks & I had to rely on pocket money when I did (I was 13 in 2002 & there was no way in hell I was doing a paper round lol). I've been busy over the past year or two filling in the many gaps in my collection. For me 1999 - 2001 are the pinnacle of trance and hard house was actually good; not to mention the obscure crossover tracks that Jules used to drop.
  21. I had a reply from the seller apologising and he's offered me the choice of any other record from his stock as a goodwill gesture. Also, with regards to Olive - You're Not Alone 2000 (DJ Mishka Remixes) it turns out that seller (different one) actually had a different record from 2007 with the same catalogue number & so cancelled the sale for me. Thankfully he sent me an mp3 link to make sure it was the one I was after and I spotted the mistake. It's really not my day today lol. In the coming days I'll be taking delivery of (hopefully in one piece): Perpetual Motion - Rompa Stompa (Wax) Club Robbers - Search For The Ball (Le Club) Soulsearcher vs. Apollo 440 - Rejected EP (White Label) DJ Elite - That Fuct Camera (White Label)
  22. I've been buying a load of classics lately (Olive - You're Not Alone 2000 (DJ Mishka Remix) - the one that jules caned back in 2000, Rejected EP, etc) and while browsing discogs I found a white label test press of Transa - Supernova / Transtar. It was the only one for sale and nobody was listed as owning a copy so my love of rare vinyl kicked in and I bought it. It arrived this morning in a flimsy record mailer without so much as a cardboard stiffener which worried me and upon opening it my fears were confirmed when I found it to be in about 3 pieces. It's really p*ssed all over my good mood. Does anyone know of anywhere that can restore a record like this? I've contacted the seller but in the meantime I've been scouring the web for another copy but so far can't find anything. The thing that makes it more annoying is that it was advertised as in near mint condition but aside from the damage from transit (obviously no one thought to read the "DO NOT BEND" that had been written all over it) it looks completely unplayed to me. On the plus side I have also just taken delivery of F1 - U Sucker! and Eufex - One On One / Junkie Monkey.
